Login Trouble
Im trying to login to my router to change some settings but I keep getting a "Something went wrong. Try again." error. Why am I having to authenticate with the netgear web services to log into the router that is in my network? ESPECIALLY when the service doesn't work. How do I get rid of this feature? I don't want my router reaching out so random servers.

Which app? iOS? Android?
What are you trying to change on the router? The app can't access everything.
Many things are best done with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI).
Why am I having to authenticate with the netgear web services to log into the router that is in my network?
You don't. See above.
By definition, for many things the app needs an Internet connection. It uses the Netgear cloud servce as an intermediary. Not some random server.
ESPECIALLY when the service doesn't work.
We don't know what you are trying to achieve.
If you don't want to use the app, don't. Use the GUI. See above. But that will then block things that only the app can handle. Your choice.

I was using a web browser that is on a computer directly connected to the router I call it an app because I'm having to log into netgear. I type in the router IP, type in admin creds, then it takes me to a Netgear landing page to login (this is what I have issue with).
What is that "Netgear landing page"?
Where did you get the IP address from?
If the standard IP address does not work, it can be down to having a modem/router connecting the RAX42 to the Internet. What is your modem/gateway/ONT?

Re: Login Trouble
Once I type in the IP and it prompts me for my creds, I enter them in the pop up. The browser then goes to a netgear account login page that asks to create a netgear account. If I type in my info for my netgear account it ALWAYS fails. If I retry the IP in the URL bar it goes to the same netgear account login page. If I go immediately to my app on my phone I have access to the router. If I disconnect the router or the modem from the internet I can access the router by typing in the IP and the netgear page does not appear. I know my router is working and on. But if I am trying to connect to the router while it has access to the internet I can not get passed the netgear account login page.
I have the IP from the Phone App, running an IPconfig, and I changed the subnet and set the IP to a static IP of my choosing. Its not the IP address because when I disconnect the router from the internet it works and never sends me the the netgear site. I dont want to have to physically disconnect my router when I want to login into it to make some change.
Note: the router works, my modem works, and i am not having trouble with internet connection issues.

Re: Login Trouble
This was a problem on newer FW for some of the RAX series. I saw this as well with my RAX50v2. A factory reset and setup from scratch solve it for me:
I would do this with the RAX disconnected from the ISP modem first, then once you have the router setup, just reconnect it to the modem.
