I have not had any luck with this particular version, 2.4.18.00 of Genie.
(Genie version 2.4.16.00 also crashes.)
Even on a clean installation of Windows 10 Pro x64, version 1511 (OS Build 10586.104).
This particular version of Genie has been an ongoing crash problem,
proven through multiple Windows installations.
I can revert to a previous version 2.4.12.00, which works fine.
This is an HP Paviliion Notebook 15-ab010nr, running an AMD A10-8700P CPU.
The network interface is a Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller,
running a Realtek driver version 9.1.402.2015
I can use the previous version, so it's not a complete loss.
But, if this problem propagates into future versions of Genie, it will be an ongoing problem.
Other computers in the home using other network technologies don't have this problem.
So, I think it might be something to do with this particular laptop's networking
hardware / driver stack.
Thanks,
John

Hi @JohnZaremba,
This is already being worked on. In the mean time, you may follow the steps below for the work around.
1. Install the latest version of NETGEAR Genie. You may use the download link below.
http://netgear.com/home/discover/apps/genie.aspx
2. Once you have successfully installed the program, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR Genie\bin
3. Delete the drivers folder.
4. Download the drivers for the previous version of NETGEAR Genie using the download link below.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz-pjmQaYmk6Z0xTX3d3SVFLZ0k/view?usp=sharing
5. Unzip the file to your preferred location (Desktop would be easy to locate). It will contain the drivers folder.
6. Copy the drivers folder that you have just unzipped and navigate back to C:\Program Files (x86)\NETGEAR Genie\bin
7. Paste the drivers folder.
8. Relaunch the NETGEAR Genie program

Re: Netgear Genire 2.4.18.00
Dexter's answer is spot on, but if you want to learn more search the forum for Netgear Genie Windows 10.
It is a long saga.
For example:
Re: Genie and Windows 10 - NETGEAR Communities
It seems that Netgear only recently pinned down this bug. It is now seeking the right insecticide.
