Nighthawk AC1200 WiFi Router
I have correctly installed the router, my Mac can see it but it tells me I'm not connected to the internet. I connect my old router and it is able to connect. I have called my service provider and they haven't been able to help. I'm about to return this for something else, so far I'm very unhappy, I've tried for 2 days to work this out.

Hi @Karensjammin,
Welcome to the community!
1. Please indicate the exact model number of your device.
2. Can your computer go online when wired straight to the ISP modem?
3. Are you getting an error message? If yes, what is the error?
Regards,
Dexter

When this happens in Windows it is usually because the PC thinks you are doing something wicked. Like trying to connect to a public network. Nothing to do with the router.
You need to tweak it to introduce the PC to the router. How you do that to a Mac is a secret, probably known only to St Steve Jobs.

Not aware of a "location" setting for handling different sets of firewall rules on the Mac.

Re: Nighthawk AC1200 WiFi Router
Ask a Mac support group.
ISPs are hopeless and Mac users are thin on the ground here.
