I bought a new router and I’m not allowed to save my device names, which stinks because the app previously let me save them w my old router. I read that a bunch of others were having the same problem. Is there a solution?

Can you explain what you are doing and what happens?
What devices? How are you trying to rename them?
What firmware version do you have on the device?
What "app" is this?
A number is more useful than "the latest". (It may not be by the time people read this.) There can also be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.
Leaving the obviously missing details alone (firmware, App version, mobile platform) we can safely assume the OP talks of the Nighthawk App (as per the subject) and about naming the Attached devices (a long year hit and miss "feature").
