Nighthawk app same "firmware not updated" when it is the correct version

I am unable to connect although I have the correct firmware version.  Probably an App issue but they need to get this fixed.

Thanks for confirming. Your device's firmware is up to date and you should be good to go. I'll have the info forwarded to our App Team to look into the Nighthawk app and request for any changes needed.

Thanks for the feedback. Would you mind providing the model number of your router, the current firmware version it's on, and the Nighthawk app version you have installed for me to check on this further.

Cable devices, modems and modem/routers, are mostly beyond your control. Or Netgear's come to that. Only your ISP can update your firmware:

So it is a real puzzle if an app throws up a message like that.

What is not working?

 

What does "am unable to connect" mean? Is that the problem?

 

Is it logging into the modem router with the Nighthawk app? Android? iOS?

iOS...cannot use the App...when “detecting” it then says Firmware out of date although the firmware is up to date...confirmed several times...so it must be a defect in the App that they need to fix.

I think you'll find that there are quite a few bugs in the latest iOS app, as has been mentioned here quite a bit in recent weeks, if not longer.

 

Here's a taster:

 

Search - NETGEAR Communities – iOS nighthawk app

 

Sort by date. Not a pretty sight.

 

You have added a new bug. Unlike the issue you see, which seems to be mostly cosmetic, some of the bugs really do hinder the operation of the iOS app. You just have something annoying that does not make sense. (The app should never report firmware issues for cable modems, unlike DSL modems, because it can't do anything about them.)

 

@Christian_R has already told you that they have passed on your report. Don't hold your breath waiting for action. The update process seems to take time.

Thanks...really stinks that I can’t use the tool...it was one of the main reasons I got it

Yes. Those functions are the real victims of this iOS "update".

 

You can do some of this stuff with a browser when you are "on site".

 

As a stop gap, have you looked into doing this with a mobile browser on your mobile?

 

The latest Nighthawk app no longer supports standard (free) Parental Controls, only the paid for Circle.

 

Parental Controls still work but you may have to to manage them with the desktop genie for your operating system.

 

On a mobile device you can use a browser and login to your Parental Controls account at opendns.

 

netgear.opendns.com

 

Manage things from there.

Update: finally got info that the cable modem/WiFi combo is a known issue with the App and they are “working on making it compatible”. No ETA of course.

Yes! I have the same issue & I'm on Android, so it's not just an ios issue. I bought the C7800 to replace an older model which I was able to see in the app. I'm on Comcast as well & have its latest version.

Another Nighthawk update with no fix for this issue...not sure why this is not a priority for these folks...to pay $300+ and not be able to use the app is very wrong.

Update: still not fixed, no communication, not priority for them...very poor experience. Someone over there should lose their job for allowing this to be a product unsupported.

Another month has passed and Netgear has still not fixed the compatibility issue with its App. Can anyone get this done? Miserable customer experience here!

Another App update, another disappointment…these guys are a joke and just don’t care that we can’t use a tool that we all paid for when we purchased. Not sure why someone in management doesn’t step up and get this fixed today!!!!!
