Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

After a local power outage, the home Wi-Fi network is back up and all devices are connected.

However, I cannot access my RBR50v2 Router via the Android App or orbilogin.com via a browser.

For the app, I have the message "Your router is unreachable".

I have power cycled and reset the router. My phone was disconnected and then connected just to the local Wi-Fi network.

I would like to access the router settings from the App and also check for any firmware updates.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Power cycled in the right order?

Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:

  • Turn off and unplug modem.
  • Turn off router and computers.
  • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
  • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
  • Turn on computers and rest of network.

I would like to access the router settings from the App and also check for any firmware updates.

Those settings are best managed with a web browser and the graphical user interface (GUI). The app is famous for missing firmware updates and there are things that it cannot control.

Re: Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

Thank you for the suggestions.

I restarted my network in the sequence:

  • Turn off and unplug modem.
  • Turn off router and computers.
  • Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
  • Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
  • Turn on computers and rest of network.

I also tried to use the GUI to log into the Router via a computer directly connected to the Router via an ethernet cable.

I tried:

orbilogin.net

orbilogin.com

http://192.168.1.1

http://10.0.0.1

I cleared my brower cache, turned off Microsoft network firewalls, and used Chrome & Edge browsers.

I am still unable to connect with the Router via the GUI.

Any other suggestions or recommended next steps are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!  🙂

Re: Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

On to the next layer of diagnosis.

What firmware version do you have on the device? (If you can find it!)

A number is more useful than "the latest". There may be newer versions, or "hot fixes", that do not show up if you check for new firmware in the browser interface.

If there is one it might also help if you told people the make and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT that sits between this router and the Internet. Is it, by any chance, also a router, with a set of LAN ports on the back?

I ask because a lot of people turn up here trying to put a router behind a modem that is also a router. That can complicate troubleshooting.

Having two routers on a network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. And that can misdirect all those "orbilogin.net" links.

Re: Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

It seems you've taken the appropriate steps of power cycling and resetting the RBR50v2 Router after a local power outage, but you're still encountering issues accessing it via the Android App and orbilogin.com. The message "Your router is unreachable" suggests a connectivity problem between your device and the router.

Here are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

  1. Verify Wi-Fi Connection:

    • Ensure that your Android device is still connected to the local Wi-Fi network. Double-check the Wi-Fi settings on your phone to confirm the connection.
  2. Check Router Connectivity:

    • Use another device (if available) to confirm whether it can access the router settings. This helps determine if the issue is specific to your Android device.
  3. Clear App Cache:

    • In your Android App settings, clear the cache for the router app. Cached data may sometimes cause communication issues.
  4. Update Router App:

    • Ensure that your router app is up to date. Check the Google Play Store or the app store on your device for any available updates.
  5. Reinstall Router App:

    • Uninstall and reinstall the router app on your Android device. This can resolve any potential glitches in the app.
  6. Try a Different Browser:

    • If orbilogin.com is not working in the browser, try a different browser on your Android device to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, browser-related issues can impact access.
  7. Use a Computer:

    • If possible, try accessing orbilogin.com from a computer connected to the same network. This can help determine if the issue is specific to your Android device.
  8. Router Reset:

    • Perform a factory reset on the router if all else fails. Keep in mind that this will erase any customized settings, so have the necessary configurations on hand before proceeding.
  9. Contact Support:

    • If the issue persists, consider reaching out to the router's customer support for further assistance. They may provide specific guidance based on the router model and the nature of the problem.

Re: Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

v2.7.4.24 is the last firmware I installed

There is a Century Link C4000BZ DSL modem, which I put into Transparent Bridge Mode when I set the overall system up a year ago. I wanted to keep the modem to be just a modem, and the Orbi router to handle all the routing.

Might be worth checking that this hasn't reset itself.

Try this:

RBR50 / RBS50 Firmware Version 2.7.5.4 - NETGEAR Support

From nearly a year ago.

Thank you for the suggestion.

While I can download the firmware update file locally, I cannot access the Orbi GUI to upload / update the router.

Great idea.

I checked the DSL modem and verified it is still in transparent bridge mode.

Re: Unable to Connect to RBR50v2 Router - Neither Android App nor orbilogin.com

Thanks for the useful suggestions.

To close this out and for anyone who reads this post in the future, I was not able to resolve the connection issues.

I ended up buying another RBR50v2 router. This replacement worked properly and I have not seen any issues for the past 7 days.

The root cause may have been router hardware failure associated with the power outage or some configuration that was not properly set with the prior router. Since I did a full reset of the original router, updated to the latest firmware, and followed the same configuration steps, my belief is the hardware was the failure point.

Regardless, the network is back running!  🙂

Thanks again...I appreciate this community's help and support.
