This has nothing to do with the router or extender. The app won't switch between devices without asking you to log in to router but does not allow you to change Username from default "admin".
It returns to Login Required screen
"Login to your admin credentials to manage Cable Router settings"

This is getting confusing.

Using an app is a two-step process. The app is a wifi thing. Before it can access your device, you need to login and connect to the wifi network from that device .
We never did learn from asps16t , the person who asked the question, which app they use. Netgear released a new version of the Android app yesterday.
As to the question from TrackerBill their hardware is a bit of "specialist" kit, best discussed in the area reserved for those devices: That's probably here:
Mobile Routers, Hotspots & Modems
I see no sign that the Nighthawk app supports any of those devices. That uses a different app:NETGEAR Mobile – Apps on Google Play
Probably not something best discussed here.

This doesn't seem to have anything to do with the first question, which was about the MR60, Mesh router. Heaven only knows where a "Cable Router" is involved. Actually, what is a cable router? Ands what does "switch between devices" have to do with this?
This just underlines the advice not to jump in on the end of a months old discussion about completely different issues and devices. That is known as "hijacking". It does a disservice to the person who first asked for help and reduces the likelihood that anyone else will see the message and respond..
