Unable to register router for genie remote access

I have a Nighthawk R8000 installed which I used to be able to access remotely using the Genie application on my iPad.

Following a firmware update to the router (I’m now on v1.0.4.12) I am no longer able to access remotely using the Genie application.  Genie works just fine when I’m connected via the local network.

When I try to connect remotely no device is listed as registered.  The device is registered on the my netgear website, and it was working remotely previously.  I have deleted and reinstalled the iOS app and it still doesn’t work.

When I try and select to set up remote access on the app, I get the error shown on attached picture.

The app for iOS is v3.1.44

Im also unable to connect via my Android phone, so safe to assume it’s not the Apps that are at fault.

Remote access is anabled on the router, and I can access remotely via a web browser without any problems.  I know the app is very basic, but l like to use the network map.

Any ideas?

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

Hi @Jilly221,

1. Is the model number of your device the WGR614v10? If yes, then it is not among the supported models for the Remote Login feature of the NETGEAR Genie.

2. Please make sure you follow the KB article linked below in setting up Email Logs.

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

First, I apologize for my all-things-router/wifi etc., ignorance. Please bear with me.

I am having the same problem when I try to remotely connect to my home router - device isn't listed in mobile Genie app, it is listed when I log into mynetgear at netgear.com.

I'm also unable to establish a remote connection when I type my ISP using chrome browser on Android tablet. Could be imI not using the correct ISP, although I think I followed the instructions correctly. (Instructions from routerlogin.net)

Also having problems at routerlogin - advances - block sites, email logs. I cantc seem to correctly configure that mess in order to have the logs sent to me electronically.

I've read every dang kb article, product documentation, user faq, help page, and 100s of community posts trying to resolve this on my own.

That just ain't going to happen though.

Should anyone reply with patience and a desire to help me figure this crap out, I'd be quite delighted! And don't you want me to be happy? Share the knowledge, teach the children, please!

And smile, ok?

Oh, I took a basically useless screenshot (learned how all on my own, too) and I shall now attempt my next trick to amaze and wow you with! Attaching the useless image....

Hmm, that wasn't very challenging. Here i thought I would impress you...darn.

Well anyhow, help, please?

Thanks bunches,

Jill

Re: Unable to register router for genie remote access

Hi @John_UK,

If you haven't yet, we recommend doing a factory reset after the firmware update and check if the Remote Login feature works. If not, you can try setting it up again. The link below may help out.
