I added 3 new satellites two days ago, all was working today - All satellites went to red lights

I added 3 new satellites two days ago, all was working today - All satellites went to red lights

I have the AX1800  Nighthakw Mesh system wit h MR60 Router and now 9 MS60 satellites.

On Tuesday, I added 3 new satellites to the system - everythign worked fine.   The firmware on the router was updated to  V1.0.6.116.

Today, all the satellites have a stead red light (or blinking read light).

And the Nighthawk App itself seems to have changed.   The firmware version is now V1.1.6.122

and the App vrsion is 2.14.0.1930 (This seems to have changed, but I didn't look at what it used to be).   But, the looks of things like "Device Manager seem different"

Previously, it would show each satellite, and all devices connected to each satelitties.

Now, I get a picture of a blue Home inside a green circle, and all 35 devices are under one category, so I can't tell what is connnected to what.

Despite the red light, I am getting internet service.   I don't know if the devices I am on are just connected to the Mother Routher and not a satellite (and because of the new App look, I don't know how to tell)

Some of the satellites have changed name (One, I am looking at now says "Satellite 1"  (It used to say "S2 - Kitchen"

Did something happen with an update to the Nighthawk App?

You're using 9 satellites?

are they hardwired in?

running over wireless?

You can use more than the recommended amount of satellites but if you're using wireless, I'm surprised its working at all as you're way over the recommended amount.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Mesh System - NETGEAR Communities

Those things are different from the standard Netgear routers covered in this section.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Re: I added 3 new satellites two days ago, all was working today - All satellites went to red lights

Well, that might explain it.   I've had the system for a year and a half.   I have to admit I hadn't reread the user manual recently - System was working fine with six satelites.   I just wanted to add access to the detached garage for a wi-fi sprinkler system.   So I ordered a few more satelites and I set them all up - even though I don't need all of them right now.  But I left them active for a few days.    I'll see if I remove some of them, if the remaining ones go back on line.

I'll have to figure a better way to arrange the ones I have to cover our house.   (It's a 1930s house with heavy lannon-stone (field stone) construction.   So the I needed the mesh system to better penetrate the construction of the house.

Thank  you.

I'll come back and comment here once I find out what happens when I go back to six satellites.

And disconnecting the extra units has solved the issue.   I'm back down to six (which is still more than the recommendations, but that seems to work).    Thank  you.
