AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender(EX6120) does not connect to router - RED light

I've just bought a AC1200 Dual Band WiFi Range Extender(EX6120) but the problem is that it connects to the main router ONLY if it is within 20 cm of its range. Otherwise, also if it is connected in the same room, just few meters far from the main router, it does not connect and the light is always RED. The firmaware has been updated to the last available version.

 

What is the problem and how to solve it ?

    What router are you trying to connect back to? firmware on it?

    Have you changed the channels that the  main router is broadcasting wifi on? maybe there's a significant amount of interference.
