EX7000 Internet Connection with Samsung Smart TV

Interesting and frustrating problem.   Using the EX7000 Range Extender with firmware V1.0.1.90_1.0.156  with a R6700 router V1.2.0.74_1.0.1 firmware.   Here is the breakdown:

 

1.  The EX7000 had been working generally OK with the TV but with intermittent issues that were solved by rebooting the EX7000 and sometimes the router and cable modem.

2.  TV all of a sudden stopped working with the EX7000.  Tried resetting the whole chain multiple times, WPS, etc. No luck.

3. The EX7000 extender works fine with Smartphones and PCs with WiFi Adapters. Using Ookala Speedtest, bandwith is high. 

4.  Problem arises ONLY with my Samsung Smart TV. 

5.  The good news is that the TV CAN connect fine directly to the R6700 router and then to the internet no problem, however the bandwidth is not sufficient for consistent streaming (hence the need for a range extender). 

6.  The TV cannot connect to the EX7000 and to the internet. 

7.  I tried moving the EX7000 around, no difference.

8.  I tried a factory reset of network settings and a full factory reset on the TV, no connection.

9.  I even tried using a direct ethernet connection from the TV to the EX7000.  Same result, no internet connection!

 

I am good at IT debugging and have actually never been stumped before.  But I am out of options to try on this one.  Appreciate any other suggestions.  If I cannot resolve I will move to another brand of extenders and routers going forward.
