Extender being detected as different network in alexa app

I have a wierd problem.  The alexa app is detecting all devices connected to my extender as on a different network.  I have to unplug my extender to make any changes to my speaker groups but after I do and plug the extender back in everything works.   Is there a way to configure the extender so that this doesn't happen.  I used to have an erros system and this didn't happen.  It is only a problem with the app  everything works correctly with the extender plugged in I just have to unplug it to create or modify groups
