Is it best to connect a WG602 to the PC or directly to the router?

What is it you want to do?
You bought it to add a wireless access point to the wired internet connection - what will connecting it to the PC achieve?
Plug the access point into the router.
Find the section of the access point manual that deals with setup - it will either tell you how to run the setup program (if there is one) - or - it will tell you what the default ip address of the access point is, and will walk you through the setup step, by step.
