Nighthawk X6S Tri-Band Mesh Extender as an Access Point but cannot make it change from 54MBS
I am trying to set my Nighthawk up as a Wireless Access Point and I can do that but no matter what I try it sets each wirless channel to 54Mbs. Tried channels tried changing the security but I untick Smart and immidiately I change someting it selects Smart again. I access the speed dropdown to select a higher speed than 45 but it doesnt change. I have tried disabling 2.4 and one o the 5GHZ channels. Nothing I do will change that 54Mbs. After the change the status shows 54Mbs. Connect my mobile to that Wifi, use Netgear Analytic and it shows 54Mbs.
There has to be a way surely of changing this speed. It has latest firmware.
I have had it meshed with a non Netgear Router and I can manage to get higher speeds from it, but I am not happy with teh Mesh setup. I would prefer it to be a WAP. I have a D-Link WAP and I can get much higher speeds out of that, thought the Netgear should be better.

Well after spending 2 days on this problem I discovered it was me in combination with teh EX8000. I actually have two of these devices and I have just changed the second one from Extender to WAP mode and set that one up and I have up to max speeds on all 3 channels. 400Mbs on 2.4 and 700+ on 1 5GHZ channel and up to 1700 on the 2nd.
So out of curiosity I plugged the first one in and hey presto I could set it up with maximum on all channels. So it was obviously something to do with not having powered it off between changing it from Extender mode to WAp mode. So no I am happy.
