Ping Issue/Gaming Issue
I have a issue with my internet and it's having a lot of bad ping. Such as the game Fortnite, it says that I'm far away from NAE Servers but I literally live in the State of Maryland. Which is in th...

What speeds do you pay for?
What speeds do you get hardwired in testing from dslreports.com? not wireless.
These are key.

How do I find out? My parents pay for that but I can find out.
Also, here's the speed test. http://prntscr.com/s0nb9p On ethernet. My ping was still terrible but I don't know about the Download and Upload speed, they are all in the screenshot.

I just realized that my ethernet wasn't connected to the box, my bad here's another test.

so you're pulling 200+mbps over wireless and only 70+ over wired? is that correct?
run the ping plotter test on dslreports.com
Reason I say this is if the speeds are good coming from the router on a dslreports.com, its not the modem or the line. Its the game sever that's being used.
BTW. my band, the C3700 is dual band. Was thinking a different device.

That is the DSL ping report that you gave me, I don't understand the results if you can explain to me (it's in the screenshot), if so thanks. And what if I called Netgear would that be a good Idea also, here's the thing I have Comcast/Xfinity but a NETGEAR Modem I don't know if that means anything but just stating that out there.

try using using a different dns provider. you can try google's at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 or cloudfare's at 1.1.1.1

Yeah, so the 8 thing doesn't work, so I tried cloudfare it says that it's coming out sometime soon is there anything else I can try? Also, what does this do?

I don't think you're doing it right because I'm using cloudfares with google as a secondary right now.

Hi, Sorry for responding so late but is there anything else so easier then doing all of this and also do I contact Xfinity or Netgear for help. I just want an easy way, and play games. But all of this is kind of confusing to me if so, Thanks.

I'm not sure what to tell you. No, there's no "easy" button.
Part of owning your own gear is sometimes having to try different settings to get it working better for your services.
And with so many people being home right now, game servers are also getting inundated.
Your options?
1. Get an isp supplied device. Might work better, might work worse.
2. buy a gaming router like the XR500 and your own modem only device. That way you can seperate out where the issue is coming from
3. work on your device. Play with settings. work with your isp if its a line issue.
you're speeds are fine. Your ping is a little high. There's a few things you can do to help that. But there's no "easy" fix.
