Problem with Nighthawk XS6 AC3000

We bought our range extender in May of 2020 and we have a three level home that gets only 40MBps internet and 6 people with many devices using the internet. For the last three days everytime we would try to use the internet on the lowest level and it would not be connected to the extender. Seemed like all I would do was move it and suddenly connected. Last night that didn't work. So I started to move the extender closer to the router and at that moment the app which was open on my phone offered me a firmware update. So I thought maybe that's the issue. I hit update and as I tried to stabilize the Nighthawk in it's new location the plug accidentally came out of the power strip. So of course I rushed and plugged it back in. Then all I see are flashing white lights in the front and a flashing green power light in the back. It has remained in that state since.

Things we have tried:

- A reset for 7 seconds using the reset button

- manually updating the firmware with the ethernet attached to the Nighthawk and the Modem/router

(we cannot get the website to open that allows the firmware update to occur)

-that led us to discussions of Debricking on the internet forums and the instructions we saw there leave us kind of confused because it was referring to an actual Netgear router which we do not have.

The website says we are under a one year warranty but that is apparently predicated on us paying $49.99 for support which seemed irrational, I bought another extender instead, the newest wifi 6 Netgear one and figured if we do fix this one we can use both. We all work from home so we couldn't wait for a solution.

Any tips, tricks or ideas are totally welcomed and appreciated. Meanwhile I am plugging in my old Linksys RE7000 extender and hoping for the best.

Thanks in advance.
