Should I buy a Range Extender or new Router WGR614v9 (1SV8987B07EE0)

I have the netgear Wireless Router WGR614v9 and was wondering if I should get a new router or a range extender.  I have a decent ISP but live in the country and wanted the extra boost.  Since my router is a few years old I didn't know if maybe a newer router would help.
