Slow internet

I've been using the EX6150 AC1200 Dual Band Range extender for a few years with my modem and router provided by Spectrum (my internet service provider).  It has been working fine until this week after I exchanged my Spectrum router for a new one.  The old router was exchanged because it had to be rebooted almost every day to maintain the internet connection.  The new router fixed that issue and has been working great delivering 350 to 400 Mbps through both the wired and wireless connections.  However, the router is kind of unique; it only broadcasts one WiFi band even though, internally, it processes both 2.4 and 5GHz bands depending on what is connected.  For example, when I look at WiFi signals on my iPad, only a single entry shows up in the list.  When you connect to it, you really don't know whether it is using the 5GHz or 2.4GHz band.  Older devices like my WEMO light switch connects fine also and has to using the 2.4GHz band since that it all it supports.  In any event, I reset my EX6150 to factory settings to reconnect to the new router.  When the initial setup screen appears, the device scans for 2.4 and 5 GHz signals and finds the new router at both band frequencies.  So I select the router (same SSID) for each band and the EX6150 seems to connect.  However, speed tests of both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands are no more than 30 to 60 Mbps even though the router is putting out 400 Mbps.  I reset and reconnected multiple times to no avail.  Speed is still very low and half the time it says I'm not connected to the internet.  I'm thinking the EX6150 isn't designed for this "newer" single band broadcasting router.  What do you think and is there another NETGEAR product that would work???

What speeds do you get hardwired into the extender? 

If you log into the extenders status page, what does it show? (take a screen snip)

What ifrmware is on the extender? 

How far from the router is the extender? 

What material walls are in between the router and the extender?

After reading your response, I did some more troubleshooting.  I found the extender setup process seems to go smoothly all the way until the end.  However, the last step is to connect devices to the extender.  That doesn't work and my screen goes to a page that says I am not connected to it.  Even though the setup appears to have succeeded, I can't get an internet connection at all and I can't connect to the extender using the specified internet address.  The low speeds I was getting on my iPhone was not thorugh the extender but was simply my iPhone 4G internet connection.  This was verifed by trying to connect to the extender using my desktop computer and iPad.  Even though the extender is broadcasting the 2.4 and 5GHz bands, I can't connect to them on either device.  Since I can't connect to the extender,  I can't answer your questions about the status page screen shot and the firmware version.  Regarding the location, there are no walls or obstructions between the router and the extender; it is just a 30 foot straight shot across my house's open floor plan.  Besides, the extender worked perfectly for 2 years with the old router so the location of the extender is optimal and can't be an issue.  I might be able to troubleshoot a little further by temporarily connecting my old NETGEAR 6100 router and then setting up the extender to see if it functions. If it does, then it seems to confirm that it will not work with Spectrum's new router.

During setup you should be able to view firmware
