Trek N300 PR2000 used as extender: online set-up page different from instructions
I have a brand new AC1600 Modem/Router that I've set-up and it's working perfectly. I have been trying to reconfigure/rename my 3-year-old Trek N300 Travel Router/Extender (PR2000 model) and get it to connect to the new AC1600 so it can do its "extending" thing downstairs. The Trek N300 will show up on my laptop when using WiFi or when I attach it by ethernet cable, but the "internet" light won't come on. When I open my "active networks" window it shows my main home network and the Trek's network (with a strong signal indicator) and the various Wifi networks of neighbors, but it won't let me connect to the Trek's network. When I do click on it, and bring up the Control Panel Home window, it shows that there's no connection the internet and it has the numeral 2 after the name of my Trek N300's network (there is no 2 when I'm on the regular "active networks" window). I have done the paperclip "factory reset" procedure more than once.
Since it is not allowing internet connection (even though it has a strong WiFi signal), I'm assuming that is the reason that I can't find it/get into it when I go into www.routerlogin.net ... all I see when I go there is all the information for my new AC1600. This is the case whether trying it in Wifi mode or hardwiring with the ethernet cable between the Trek N300 and my laptop.
Any help will be greatly appreciated ... the Trek N300 is, of course, past warranty tech help; I'm of middling abilities in the tech side of computers, but understand the jargon and can follow instructions ... it's when things don't do what they're supposed to do, or windows that are supposed to show don't show, that I get lost down the Rabbit Hole.

Hello DeptfordDude
When connected to the Pr2000 make sure your wifi is not connected to the main routers network after that go to your run bar then type CMD hit enter then type ipconfig hit enter it should tell you the default gateway you will want to take that ip address and plug it into your browser it should pop the login up for the Pr2000.
