WGR614 as Access Point with a twist...
Hi,
I currently have a WPN824v3 being used as a standard wireless router. I also currently have a WGE111 wireless game adapter in another room (which is working fine). I use the WGE111 to "bring" the internet service upstairs for my Direct TV on demand, Blu-Ray Player OR internet on TV.
The problem is I have to unplug the connection from whatever device is using to the WGE111 and plug it in to whatever device I want to use it with.
I have a WGR614v6 laying around doing nothing. I read up (thanks "jmizoguchi") on the way to turn the WGR614v6 into a wireless access point, but the method shown is only for a direct cable connection from the WPN824v3 to the WGR614v6.
The question I have is if I setup the WGR614v6 as a wireless access point can I use the internet "output" from the WGE111 instead of a cable connection "into" the WGR614v6?
If I understand correctly, I plug the WGE111 "output" into one of the 4 ports on the WGR614v6 (not the yellow internet port) and that should leave me with three additional ports to plug my three devices into.
A quick attempt at this failed and I am not sure if I did something wrong (mostly suspect my setting up the WGR614v6 as an access point) or if this just isn't going to work the way I had hoped.
Thanks,
Bill
