WN3000RPv3 - reset extender to new router

I have reset my WiFi extender to a new router and have successfully connected it using the WPS buttons, however when I try to connect to the extender on my laptop or phone using the same password that I use for my router it says it is incorrect why is this?

    Not all device manufacturer's code wps the same. If wps didn't work, factory reset the extender and follow the installation wizard guide and not wps.
