Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

@truthx7 I'm not sure how that is possible as it is a hardware limitation. As above its in WAN settings but it's not device specific, it will apply to everything. You will not see a connection benefit by changing MTU

@Pull123 where are you testing the speeds? What mode have you selected, Always, Never etc? What device are you using to test?

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

Connection Benchmark doesn't report change in speeds by QoS by design, if speedtest.net reflects the change then its all working as expected

We're still improving upon the results reporting so it's unlikely you'll be getting the type of connection it says, it may also be to do with PPPoE

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

You won't be able to open the file, you'll need to upload it to the XR500 to upgrade the firmware.

To do this, access the DumaOS interface via routerlogin.net and do the following:

  1. Select Settings > Administration > Firmware Update.
  2. Click the Browse button.
  3. Find and select the saved firmware file on your computer.
  4. Click the Upload button.

After you've done this please factory reset the router to ensure you're starting fresh.

We don't have any specific recommendations, however they must support OpenVPN version 2.3.4 and provide you with the configuration files to download

It's the .img file - not .img.md5

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

i was hesitant to install the beta firmware but i've been dealing with a bunch of crashes (that i was blaming on my ISP as most of the time the internet just dropped and i could talk to the router so i thought it had to be the modem/isp) and recently i noticed my 300/30 connection topped out at 150-180/20 so i was getting kinda fed up with the XR500's shenanigans (though at the time i thought my ISP was screwing me over).

decided to install this firmware...best thing i could have done, was planning on trying it assuming it wouldn't change much and then have a angry and unpleasant phone call with the ISP...which was thankfully avoided >.>.

no more crashes, 300/30 connection speed.

it was crashing 1-6 times a day so i figured things can only get better at this point and they did.

had another netgear router like 8 or 10 years ago that probably didn't crash once in those years so i just thought it's impossible that it could be the fancy new router >.>

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

This latest DumaOS Firmware has many issues .  It seems 1 major issue is that the Wifi clients lose internet access at times even though they seem to be connected.  When I login to Router , I see that the device Manager tab is hung and takes forever to launch. I end up rebooting the router manually and everything is working again.

Is there a solituion to this ?  We have been pateiently waiting for over 3 years for a stablized version of this OS.  What is the most reliable and "stable"  firmware version for this router.?

When are you seeing the Device Manager take awhile to load, straight after a reboot or when its been on for awhile? What wireless devices disconnect? Are you using Smart Connect? This is the most stable in my opinion, did you factory reset after upgrading?

Device Manager just hangs and I need to reboot router for wifi to actually work again.   All wifi devices seem to lose access to internet but show connected.

I am not using Smart connect as I have multiple SSID's.  Yes I did a factory reset multiple times after updating to latest dumaos.

On the System Information page on the Rapp panel menu, change retries to 5. On WiFi, change the mode on 5GHz down from the 4000 range to the one below, then reboot from the interface, wait 2 minutes before connecting/accessing and see if its any better please

Go to Settings > Wireless Setup then for 5GHz change the mode, it will be set to 4800 Mbps, change this to 2400 Mbps and then apply. Make sure you've done the retries, then reboot from the interface

Re: New Firmware v2.3.2.120 (XR500)

On my XR 450 this update is very unstable after a while my PC is unable to go on to the Duma OS settings on the router this even happens when I factory reset it to factor a default like sometimes my phone disconnects from the internet even though it says it's connected but it has issues with most internet connectivity things like YouTube Netflix is very slow and sometimes even when I video chat I lose connection I formatted this thing to factory default and it's still not working so I reinstalled it to the regular Duma OS non 3.0 this is the most unsecure update I've ever faced just a little while ago the router almost broke so I had to unplug it from the modem bring it upstairs then connect it directly to my computer I had to flash the old update back on I was getting frustrated I was also getting scared because my provider I live with he needs to internet so does other people in the house this is the most unsecure update I've ever faced about anything good thing my phone is able to connect to the Duma OS temporarily just to reinstall the older firmware
