Re: Upload Bufferbloat

Okay so that was the issue then, doing it all from the dashboard? Are you able to have something else handle PPPoE to see if that is the case?

Are you saying setup using DHCP DMZ like last time with gateway router and xr500 setup through the lan port on it? Or do I need to try and get a completely seperate router/switch for this?

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

Yes have the gateway handle PPPoE and just put the XR in the DMZ if you can and then try.

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

I used The Setup Wizard to get setup through DHCP. The QOS bug came back and isn't capping the upload again. I will just factory reset again..

After factory reset upload cap is working but now Connection benchmark just keeps loading and not testing.

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

I can see you've got AdblockPlus enabled even in Incognito mode, could you disable this, refresh the page and see if it works correctly after that please?

@Netduma-Fraser

Does the Connection benchmark use https to get info? I tried using Microsoft Edge to get bufferbloat results on dsl reports and https speedtest didn't work at all?

Thanks for all the information. There should be a firmware next week I believe so lets see if it is resolved then.

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

take your device out of traffic prioritization, for some reason it cancels qos

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

@Totti_10 remove any rules in that panel or disable DumaOS Classified Games. Traffic Prio supersedes QoS to put gaming packets ahead of the network queue which helps limit jitter, spikes etc.

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

Hey. It not affect upload buffernloat. I use a Speedport Smart 3 as a DSL Modem (Bridge Mode) with my Xr500 Nighthawk newst Firmware. Iam using PPPoE Connection. Eventhing works fine except bufferbloat on upload. Is the only way that i use xr500 with Dhcp with DMZ?

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

@Totti_10 okay thanks I've let the team know this is still an issue. Yes if you set it up like that then upload QoS should work.

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

For everyone here in the forum DMZ or Exposed Host connections are a security risk. I would like it better if netgear could fix the problem or is it technically not possible? Will there be an update soon that solves this problem?

Re: Upload Bufferbloat

@Totti_10 putting the XR in the DMZ of your modem/router is perfectly safe as the XR has its' own built in firewall and so will not pose a security risk to any of your devices.
