Android Nighthawk app remote management not working
Hi,
I have had lots of issues with the nighthawk android app. It was working perfectly fine the first time I used the app. However, it stopped working for a while and did not let me access my XR500 router. I re-downloaded the app multiple times and it worked after 5 times. I could acess my router via local connection with the app now, but whenever I enable remote management it keeps disabling it after a few seconds. All of the features work other than the remote management. Please help me asap.
Thanks,
Nathan

Re: Android Nighthawk app remote management not working
Instead of using the Nighthawk app, have you tried setting your router up using the web interface?
Go to www.routerlogin.net - username is admin - password is whatever you specified upon first setup
If you want to use the app and are still having problems, try asking in this forum section which is specifically about the app:

Typically a volatile issue, can be caused of the router can't link up to the Netgear cloud infrastructure (DNS issue, service down, ...). Or the kids (not yours - ...) were playing again.

That is a complete different beast - unrelated to the Nighthawk App Remote access via the Netgear cloud ... the Remote Access (as described e.g. in the Nighthawk XR700 Gaming Router User Manual, p.131 ff. under the title "Manage Remote Access" would allow to make the router reachable over it's public IP address on the WAN/Internet interface, on a dedicated port, by https. For this part, there is a step by step configuration in the fine manual, so you might want to explain what you have configured, how you tested, what problems and issues you see ...

Please check again after doing the above, should be able to connect using your public IP in a web browser followed by the port on the Remote Management screen.
I can't access it. I just can't. It was setup to a proper ip and the 8563.

The remote management website doesn't load... And the nighthawk remote management app doesn't work.

Here I have an idea, or two ... The fine documentation says:
===
Use Remote Access
To use remote access:
1. Launch a web browser on a computer that is not on your home network.
2. Type your router’s WAN IP address into your browser’s address or location field followed by a colon (:) and the custom port number.
For example, if your external address is 134.177.0.123 and you use port number 8443, enter http://134.177.0.123:8443 in your browser.
===
A. The IPv4 address on your router WAN/Internet interface is the same as reported by the what-is-my-IP-address search?
B. Try https instead of http ... as most newer/bigger((all?) Nighthawk models make use of https for the Remote Access ... and even the R9000 User Manual is wrong , it should say
===
...
For example, if your external address is 134.177.0.123 and you use port number
8443, enter https://134.177.0.123:8443 in your browser.
===
@Netduma-Fraser @Netduma_Jack as I guess you have access to all Nighthawk Pro Gaming models - would you mind to check this please?
So I'm afraid again dear @michaelkenward I have to chme in @Christian_R and @ChristineT again ... one more bug or inconsisency.

What is your exact physical setup? I.e. how do you have the router connected to the internet?

I can confirm that I can access it using the WAN IP and my public IP address when my hub is in modem mode.
By http or by https? The XR700's unle (X10/R9000) does make use of https for example.

Still does not work. Does not work by accessing the web or the app.

Is your modem in bridge mode? Is there any chance that the modem is redirecting ports?

Re: Android Nighthawk app remote management not working
HI
I was facing the same issue after factory reset. However after rebooting the router, I was able to re-enable the remote management via the nighthawk app. Below is an article about the same. To be extra safe, I created a new netgear account and logged onto the nighthawk app
