Re: Blocking Sites on XR500 Not working

Suspect Netgear has implemented the keyword and URL filtering in place on the Nighthawk and earlier router models - a design that worked for a long time when http was standard - nowadays https is standard, and the system can't work as the users expect.

Not your mistake @Topdog13590  - the implementation is with all due respect dear Netgear's - completely useless!

Compare e.g. here https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-Pro-Gaming-Routers/Content-filtering/m-p/1547276#M1222

@Christian_R and @ChristineT  please insist with the NTGR consumer and home division that this feature is 100% useless, it should not be marketed, promoted, kept in place, even in the year 2019! The customers expect NTGR answers and changes now - as they have the right that a feature is working as the average user does expect.

When we have an eye in the fine (?) documentation, XR500 Nighthawk Pro Gaming Router User Manual (April 2018 202-11808-03)

"Block Access to Internet Sites

You can block keywords and domains (websites) to prevent certain types of HTTP traffic from accessing
your network..."

Hope this won't serve as an excuse...

Re: Blocking Sites on XR500 Not working

Thank you for the reply and okay I guess I will have to enforce parental control on each device rather than the router.
