Brand new XR1000 refuses to connect to HFC NBN (Aussie Broadband)
Hi all, I have an old R7000 that has been working great, but it was getting a little tired so I decided to upgrade to the XR1000. I have HFC NBN supplied by ABB which DOES NOT need a username/password or any weird VLAN settings, basically it just works.
I have configured the XR1000 identically to the old R7000 and it simply refuses to connect, the LED stays amber and connection is disconnected. Swap back to the R7000 and it connects immediately.
I have done resets, upgraded the firmware to the latest V1.0.0.64_1.0.49 and nothing seems to be working. Have I missed something?
I ran through the auto detection setup and it reckons I have a PPPOE connection and it requires a username and password! There are no credentials to enter as ABB doesn't use them.
Something is clearly wrong here and hoping someone can help otherwise I'll pack it up and get a refund. I am at my wits end with this router.
Thanks in advance.
I think I may have got it working.
I found a post on another forum regarding the MAC address of the router under the 'Internet Setup' tab, I spoofed the MAC from the old R7000 and it connected straight away!
Didn't realise this could cause a problem. I could've probably left the NBN modem off for an extended period of time to clear the MAC too, but this is working, so I'll leave it for now.

Sounds like your ISP may use MAC Address Spoof configurations. Something to ask the ISP about to check this.
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Enjoy. 📡Yeah, I'm not sure. We were going out later, so I did a test, changed the MAC setting back to 'Use Default Address', then unplugged both XR1000 and the NBN modem. When I came home after a few hours, switched both on and it connected and everything is working fine.
Will mark as resolved, thanks.
