Connection issues XR1000 NightHawk

Hi,

I am trying to play Back 4 Blood on my PC. No matter what I do, I can't connect to any match - it just throws me back into the lobby and asks if I would like to try and reconnect. My last variable that I can think of is an issue with the router itself not allowing me any connections to the game.

I've tried a wired connection, a WiFi connection, reinstalling the game, restarting my pc and router. I even tried disabling IPv6 hoping it would help but nothing worked. I was trying it via game pass for PC and gave up and bought the Steam edition hoping that might have even helped. Nope, still got the same issue.

I used to play this on my Series X before I had the NightHawk router, so I'm wondering if it's the router that is giving me the grief.

Cheers.

Re: Connection issues XR1000 NightHawk

The XR1000 isn't one of your conventional Nighthawk with WiFi 6 (AX) and WiFi 6E (AXE) Routers.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

You might like to search there for messages related to your problem.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

Check for various troubleshooting tips.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Got it sorted.

Went back to my ISP supplied router and I’m no longer having any issues connecting. In fact I’m also hitting higher download speeds. Been having nothing but trouble with this router since I bought it. Will be returning it. Absolute dog water.

Keep in mind, If your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Re: Connection issues XR1000 NightHawk

Most likely the cause was the Geo-Filter being enabled, if you disable that I suspect it would work. If you want to give it another go let us know and we'll be happy to help.
