Connection issues with Nighthawk XR500
I have a Nighthawk XR500, it's a XR500 V2.3.2.134 setup. I am operating it within my home. It's been working great up until recently when it starts to randomly lose Wi-Fi connection in the house. The lost is mainly on the 2.4 Ghz side of operations. I am curious to know if anyone has been having a similar issue and know how to correct this or what. I really don't want to have to replace this unit, but I will if I have to.

Re: Connection issues with Nighthawk XR500
Have you tried changing the wifi channel?
Maybe there's interference on the channel for 2.4ghz as its more sensitive to interference than 5ghz is.

I had not, but I will. The only problem is running an WiFi scan in my home (I'm an IT, computer company owner, so I know a lot of about these things), shows that I am actually the only person on the channel that my sytem is on, channel 9, but I will go ahead and change the channel and see if what happens.

Could be something like a cordless phone or other device broadcasting/causing issues.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities
Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

Re: Connection issues with Nighthawk XR500
Don't have any cordless phones in the house and don't know of anyone around me that has one, though I can't say no 100%. I did a site scan of wireless connections and interference and I was one channel 9 which showed nothing else close to me running on that range but I did go ahead and changed the channel and will see what happens. I've had this router for just over a year and only started having this issue about 2 or 3 months ago. The only solution that I had found to fix it was to reboot the router.

Re: Connection issues with Nighthawk XR500
Thanks guys. I have enabled the debug and capture, I will also look through the other part of the community for these gaming based routers. I did end up changing my 2.4 Ghz radio channel to channel 3, one that showed no other device using that channel based on my Wi-Fi channel scan and I will give it 24 hours to see if fails again or not. That will be a huge tell for me right there.

Re: Connection issues with Nighthawk XR500
2.4ghz has channel overlap. so if you're using channel 3, its actually on channels 1-6 because of the overlap.
Its why we usually recommend channels 1-6-11 for 2.4ghz.
