Title pretty much says it all but I have an XR500 router and I just got a My Passport hard drive and I want to plug it into my router so that computer on the network can access that device but I cannot do so.

you didn't put much for firmware numbers or your mypassport model number. have you looked at the compatible list?

some others may work and we've had people who have devices that are on the list that don't work. Its kind of challenging with external hard drive compatibilities with netgear.

ah you are right it is not on the list. Didn't even know you had to have compatible drives for certain routers. very weird but thanks!

it might potentially work. there have been drives that aren't on the list that worked. I know many netgear devices struggle past the 4tb size.
has it been partitioned in the proper format?
