Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

I have the Nighthawk XR 450 firmware V2.3.2.40 and yes I have done the reset with all ethernet cords disconected.

I am having serious issues with destiny 2 for PC, I can play for about 15 minutes till I get disconnected from the router, have to unplug ethernet cord and replug to get connected back to the router. I have qos set for the specific ports, geofilter is correctly setup and not on strict mode and set to ps4. I have a netgear CM600 modem and I have verified that it is not causing the issue, I have zero issues if i plug straight to the modem but I need a router for other pc's and devices in the house.

My logs have alot of this

[DumaOS] DHCP lease change., Tuesday, July 02, 2019 17:33:20

when the issue seems to happen I don't know if the 2 are related. Hope for some help because this is the only game I play and currently cannot play due to how the router is not performing. I'm pretty much at about the point of going and buying something else from elsewhere to find something that can work with the 1 game I play.

I has now started happening even when I am not gaming that lease renew thing happens and I lose internet til I unplug my ethernet and plug it back in. I feel like whatever is happening is getting way worse and quick.

Have you set a IP address reservation for your PC ON the router?

Is QoS enabled or disabled?

Is others using internet bandwidth when you gaming?

Not sure on the ip address reservation, qos is enabled with all ports manually added for destiny 2 as priotized, no I am the only device that takes any bandwidth while gaming

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

Another thing that has me really thrown off is I had the router hooked up for about a month without any issues til last weekend when this started to happen. I had nothing setup or turned on as far a features go at that point and I didn't try configuring things until all of this started.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

I don't know why the leases are renewing as often as they are... But one solution would be to set a reserved IP for your PC, here's how:

Open your router's interface (routerlogin.net), go to Settings > Setup > LAN Setup.

Scroll to the bottom and press Add under Address Reservation, select your device in the reservation table (hopefully it's named, if not, open cmd and use ipconfig) and then press Add.

Now the IP address won't change and hopefully the lease won't constantly renew.

I've done the reserved Ip played for about a hour no issues will report back in a couple of days and update.

Had no issues at all yesterday but woke up to this issue

It seems to be happening again even with the reserved ip

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

Could you try logging into your router and going to Settings > Advanced Settings > IPv6 and setting Internet Connection Type to Disabled.

I went to do that that but it seemed that was what it was already set at. I set it to that and clicked apply again just in case. still havthing the same issue though

log is filled with the

Is it possible that its just a bad router or something is corrupt in the firmware? seeing as the problem doesn't exist when that router isn't hooked up.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

What is your ISP hub? Are you able to check its interface to see if when the issue happens it reports the router as offline?

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

By the ISP hub do you mean like the cable modem status or the isp status? If thats what you mean yes I can still log into my modem and all seems to be fine and correctly connected as far as I can tell, and its a netgear cm600 so its not one the isp provided ones and its only about 2 months old same as the router. I haven't had anymore issues since I got off of work today so I dunno. I switched to all new ethernet cables today just to eliminate that as a issue as well as added some additional cooling to the shelf the modem and router are on via a usb fan.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

Yes I meant the ISP modem, okay that's good, fingers crossed what you've done sorts it, do keep us updated. If it happens again access the modem interface and see if it's showing the router as connected to the internet or not.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

So all has been pretty much well as far as things go but today this happened and kicked me offline it was doing this same dos attack for about an hour before I could get back online according to the logs(I just pasted a section seeing as it was the same thing for about 2 hours in the logs. Now is this just noise or am I actually being targeted seeing as how when it stopped my internet started working again.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

Well the two IP addresses there are from Spectrum/Charter Communications so that doesn't jump out as being targeted but then again it could be an individual with that ISP. It might be worth phoning your ISP and asking them if there was anything strange going on in the time frame when it happened and give them the IPs.

Re: Issues with XR450 and Destiny 2

If it happens again, I'll phone them, I sometimes suspect that it might just be their backend "system keeping the flow of data fair" of just plain kicking me offline because I am more then likely the highest bandwidth consumer on the road.
