Losing Internet connection

My new router consistently loses connection to my ISP cable modem.

Logs

[DumaOS] DHCP lease change., Thursday, March 07, 2019 17:15:56
[DumaOS] DHCP new event., Thursday, March 07, 2019 17:15:56

I've read through posts, disabled Xbox Instant on, hard set IPs, reduced range 200-254

any fix, it seems to be a reoccurring issue among others on the forum. I'm using the latest firmware

Re: Losing Internet connection

What FW is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

You might revert to v32

Re: Losing Internet connection

You said you set static/reserved IPs was this just for your LAN devices? If so I would recommend doing it in Settings > Internet Setup.

Re: Losing Internet connection

I don't have this option. No access to the modem.

My Nighthawk R6400 never had this issue.

Re: Losing Internet connection

Not on the modem I mean on the router. Routerlogin.net > Settings > Internet Setup, switch from dynamic to static

Re: Losing Internet connection

Can you do that if the ISP is using DHCP? Wouldn't you need to have them create and assign a static address for that to work?

in any case, I've had them give me a brand new modem of a different manufacturer. Let's see if that changes anything.

Re: Losing Internet connection

Yes you can, no it can be done from the router without having to do that.

Okay great, keep us updated with what happens!

Re: Losing Internet connection

Still losing Internet connection, seems that the intervals in between are longer now though. As to your suggestion, how do I know the static IP to set? According to my ISP only upgrading to a business account has the ability for static IP. Is there another way?

Re: Losing Internet connection

I would revert to v32 FW version on the XR router.

Most ISPs will not allow for static WAN IPs to be set unless you pay for it or comes on there Business class packages.

Can you try a different ISP modem? Arris TMs are not the greatest.

Re: Losing Internet connection

Try going back one firmware as Furry suggested, and then see if it's better:

Re: Losing Internet connection

Downgrading the firmware seems to have worked. I'll post again if it restarts.

Since it happened with two different modems by different manufacturers, any idea if this might be fixed in a later version?

I'd hate to never be able to update my firmware again.

Re: Losing Internet connection

v40 seems to have problems with some users. I presume NG will be making changes.

Your ok to run v32 if it works for you and it provides all you need. You don't always have to update. Unless there maybe some security concerns.

Re: Losing Internet connection

I expect the version after .40 will be more stable, so you should be ok to upgrade to it once it's released.
