Netgear XR500 & Draytek Vigor 130 Modem on SKY Broadband
Hi Everyone,
This is my first post. Please can someone help me? I am having so much trouble setting my Netgear XR500 up on Sky Broadband!
I have the Sky Broadband Superfast package.
From my phone line i have a Micro Filter (No Telephone connected)
Then the ADSL cable into my Draytek Vigor 130 Modem (out of the box - no settings changed)
Then the Ethernet Cable from the Vigor 130 connected to my Netgear XR500.
When i switch it all on and get to the Netgear set up page on my laptop, i choose the option for Netgear to check for the internet connection settings automatically, this comes back saying it detects PPPOE and please input your login details. however when i put those details in (which i got from Wireshark) it says they are incorrect?? i have also tried all the random user ones that are suggested in the forums but these do not work either?
Having done hours of googling and finding this forum i now beleive i have to use MER (Option 61) because this is what Sky exclusively use? So i have contacted Netgear support and they assure me the router DOES support this option BUT i cannot find where it is anywhere? What am i missing? Please could someone help me out? If possible screen grabs of where the option is located? Do i have to choose to manually set the router up? rather than let the Router detect everything?
i have been struggling with this for hours and hours to no avail, so any help would be massively appreciated.

It's only in the latest firmware, so I would reccomend grabbing that firmware here: https://kb.netgear.com/000061157/XR500-Firmware-Version-2-3-2-56
Then you can upload that firmware directly to the router from your computer. Go to Settings > Administration > Firmware Update
