Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

Hello,

Still getting QOS error: device not found

Things tried:

Downgrade back to version .130 and did a hard reset, upgraded to version .134

The connection benchmark does not match the actual number IPS speed number.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

Could you please repeat the process but instead downgrade to the 114 firmware, linked below.

https://kb.netgear.com/000062867/XR500-Firmware-Version-2-3-2-114

Once downgraded factory reset either through the interface or by holding the button on the back for thirty seconds.

Then re-upgrade and don't factory reset after the upgrade.

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

My XR500 had a problem - documented here:

...where it would sporadically restart and reset.  Since upgrading to .134, I haven't experienced this again.  But I also hadn't reserved any addresses.  Earlier this week, I reserved one device and address in the LAN.  My DHCP is set to 192.168.1.2 - 254.

The morning after I made the reservation, my router restarted and reset - just like it had previously.

Is anyone else experiencing this...and is there ever going to be any relief?

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

I recommend that you leave the DHCP IP address pool range set to a smaller range. You don't have to use the default range. I personally never use the factory range on any NG router. Also this provides room for static IP addressed devices as well. I use .100 to .150 as I only have around 30 devices. Plenty of room for additional devices if and when that happens.

We hope so, however don't have that info.

That is odd, I would suggest going through and reserving IP addresses outside the DHCP range, then see if you experience any further disconnections after that.

Do you have Smart Connect disabled on the router, if so, thats why you see separate SSID names. IF you don't want this, then enable Smart Connect.

It's only supposed to show networks that need a password. I don't know why it's showing it as available via nighthawk this never happened before

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

I don't understand what you mean by "It's only supposed to show networks that need a password." It's showing the SSID name and that there is a password set by the LOCK icon being displayed to indicate that there is security set and there is a pw set as well. The WIFI SSID name will always been seen or should be seen.

I presume you are wifi wifi security and have a PW set on the router?

I see you don't have Smart Connect enabled so you have separate SSIDs.

I'm talking about those networks. It says available via nighthawk on the bottom of those SSIDs it never showed that before. It has started doing this for a few months and apparently I don't need a password for them and but it's getting annoying

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

Is that thru the NH app or seen on your device?

Those are probably displayed by default as available by default by the app or device. This would be normal by design. IT may have been a bug before as not being seen and NG may have fix something to make them appear.

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

It's not normal because those have never shown before and I've had my router for almost like three or four years it should only show my current Netgear 5G. SSID and a single Netgear 2.4G instead it's showing those connections and the connection that I'm already connected to

Where are you seeing these SSID names at? Nighthawk app?

Heres what I see with my XR450 an Nighthawk app with Smart Connect Disabled on iOS and Android:

Smart Connect Enabled:

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

This is how your mobile phone OS is displaying available wifi SSID broadcasts. This is not a NG issue or problem. Most phones and pads operate normally like this to display any and all near by wifi SSID broadcasts.

Your mobile phone is doing what it's supposed to. Contact the Mfr of the phone if you feel otherwise.

Good Luck.

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

This looks like it could be related to the Nighthawk app that you have installed on your device. Try uninstalling it and see what happens?

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

I don't think that makes any sense because the nighthawk app doesn't have any issue. The nighthawk app only controls what the router can do. It doesn't control the available via network thing. What's being shown on the Wi-Fi SSIDs

Re: New - XR450/XR500 Firmware Version 2.3.2.134 Released

I think the app might be looking at your router and its available WiFi networks and displaying them.  The app may have been updated recently which is why this has changed.

It only takes a few minutes to uninstall and reinstall the app - if you uninstall it and those extra SSIDs disappear then you know the reason why.
