Nighthawk xr500

I keep getting Moderate Double NAT Detected on my Xbox. I can’t put my Xfinity Modem In bridge mode because I need the wireless internet. And I can’t put my Nighthawk XR500 in AP mode because if I do that basically disabled all the features like GEO Filter Qos and everything so I chat do either of those I need help on how to open my nat.

Re: Nighthawk xr500

Here's what you should do:

  • Open DumaOS and go to System Information, write down your WAN IP
  • Open the Xfinity Modem settings and look for DMZ
  • Put the WAN IP that you wrote down previously into the DMZ

Now the double-NAT should be gone.

Re: Nighthawk xr500

Modem Combo Units:
Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem.

Try #2 with the ISP modem in Router mode...

Re: Nighthawk xr500

You're trying to configure the DMZ on the XR500 but you should be trying to configure it in your modem's interface instead!

Go to system information in DumaOS and write down your WAN IP, and then put this into the DMZ of your modem.

Re: Nighthawk xr500

Is that the IP address the XR is getting on it's WAN port from the modem? if so, then this should work.

Re: Nighthawk xr500

You didn't need to write anything in the IPv6 fields, but essentially yes that's right!

Re: Nighthawk xr500

Okay so now perhaps put your console's IP address into the DMZ of the XR500?

Do I have to do anything in the xbox settings?

Re: Nighthawk xr500

No need to change any settings on the Xbox.

Do the following in DumaOS:

  • Go to Settings, LAN Settings, give the Xbox a reserved IP
  • Put that IP address into the DMZ of the XR500
  • Restart the Xbox

Re: Nighthawk xr500

I would power OFF XR router. Then Power ON the XR router. While the xbox is ON, hold the front power button until the console shuts OFF. Then power it back on. Check NAT status.

Re: Nighthawk xr500

I think I fixed the NAT it is now OPEN with IPv4. Is there any way to get IPv6?

Re: Nighthawk xr500

IPv6 won't give you much of a benefit so if it's working now I would leave it. Do you know if you have the availability of IPv6?
