I have the same issue with QoS. It reset everything along with the error message. My question is if I factory reset can I restore the settings from a backup file?

Yes. Please first try QoS configurations after doing a factory reset and setup from scratch to see if this happens. If not, then load the backup config file.

- Netduma-FraserAug 28, 2019NetDuma PartnerAs above. Was there any specific QoS setting you changed that prompted this error?
- ghormanAug 29, 2019Aspirant
The factory reset DID NOT work. I got the error again in less than 24 hours.
Edited:
I only set the speed rates and location. Then I did the anti settings to 70% each. I didn't even do static ips within dhcp or anything else on it.
- Netduma-FraserAug 29, 2019NetDuma PartnerStrange that a factory reset didn't work, did all other settings reset? Try accessing using different browsers and see if that helps.
- ghormanAug 29, 2019Aspirant
No its just the QoS page. The DHCP keeps all my static settings, wifi is great and geo-filter is fine. Just not QoS.
- Netduma-FraserAug 29, 2019NetDuma PartnerAfter a factory reset it kept your static settings? In that case it doesn't sound like it reset it. Click erase in Settings > Administration > Back up settings and see if it works after that.
- ghormanAug 29, 2019Aspirant
No, I guess you read it wrong or i typed it in wrong. The factory reset worked and I used it for less than 24 hours and got the error. The error is only for QoS. I restored my settings and when I get the error it affects nothing but QoS.
- Netduma_AlexAug 30, 2019NetDuma Partner
Very strange. I wonder what would happen if you downgraded back to the first firmware and then back up again? I'm trying to get it to replace as much of QoS as it can during the upgrade.
The first firmware: https://kb.netgear.com/000060213/XR700-Firmware-Version-1-0-0-20
The latest firmware: https://kb.netgear.com/000061118/XR700-Firmware-Version-1-0-1-18-Hot-Fix

I will try. So, last night i was playing destiny 2 just fine with QoS. Logged off and this morning the error message is back. Nothing changed over night, I just left it logged in my browser.
I did find this in the logs:
[DumaOS] RPC call 'is_unrestricted' exception 'bad argument #1 to 'gmatch' (string expected, got nil) -> stack traceback: ^I?: ,
[DumaOS] get_cmd_output 'conntrack -L -m 0x800000/0x800000 2> /dev/null' failed conntrack -L -m 0x800000/0x800000 2> /dev/null,

How long have you had the router for?
IF 1st verson of FW does this as well, possible the router itself could be faulty and needs to be RMAd.
- Rick6922Aug 30, 2019Luminary
I bought it as soon as it came out!
- Rick6922Aug 30, 2019Luminary
mine does the exact same thing as ghorman, its says error and sliders go to 100% , download and upload speeds change to 1000 each and the allowed speed set on devices change, the only way to make any changes at that point is to reboot the router and everything goes back the way I set it up untill it does it again, it can happen in 2 hours or not for 20, but it happens daily.I've try the factory resets, new beta FW and on and on. the only way to stop it is going back to one of the first FW's that dont have ping assist and added securty.
- ghormanAug 30, 2019Aspirant
I purchaed mine on Ordered on April 9, 2019.
- Netduma-FraserAug 31, 2019NetDuma PartnerUnplug the router from the modem and reboot it, connect to it locally and access the interface, does it still occur when it is isolated?
- ghormanAug 31, 2019AspirantSo your solution is to unplug internet from my whole house for an intermittent issue?
The whole job of QoS is to manage internet traffic. If I remove that traffic is QoS even used? - Netduma-FraserAug 31, 2019NetDuma PartnerJust a suggestion if it was possible. It wouldn't be that's why I wanted to see if it would still crash without the traffic. Disable QoS fully in Anti-Bufferbloats menu to bypass it and see if it still crashes then. Devices can still use the internet then but we might be able to narrow it down.
- Rick6922Aug 31, 2019Luminary
I know what QoS is, I've had this router sence the day it released! I bought this router for gaming. I no when QoS crashes with out looking at the QoS page in DumaOS. the game I play on xbox1x [bf5] has a network graph you can have on screen while your playing the game and the numbers start flashing red when Qos crashes and the hit detection is dog **bleep**. so I reboot the router, it takes less than 2 mins. and anyone watching YT or netflix dont no I'm doing it, now my wifes a doctor so if shes doing something important I wait, just in case. the games unplayable when it crashes so theres 1 option, quit playing till the router is rebooted !
- Rick6922Aug 31, 2019Luminary
I'll try disabling Qos today and let you know.
- Netduma-FraserAug 31, 2019NetDuma PartnerI wasn't questioning your knowledge of QoS, keep us posted.
- Rick6922Sep 06, 2019Luminary
I wasn't talking to you. lol I turned QoS off and it still crashes.
- FURRYe38Sep 06, 2019Guru - Experienced User
I would get your unit RMAd. Sounds like a bad unit.
- Netduma_AlexSep 06, 2019NetDuma Partner
Oh right, so the problem isn't with QoS but is just a problem with the connection in general? That's helpful because now maybe we can narrow down exactly what's causing the issue.

Excuse me but how are you getting to a problem with the connection in general? We are not losing ISP connection; the QoS module is crapping out and throwing an error resetting the whole QoS settings. And how come you guys can't look up the error code or talk with the dev team?
I did another factory reset yesterday because Hybrid VPN wasn't working after the first reset you guys asked me to do. Just got this QoS error again:
RPC error 'ERROR_UNKNOWN': bad argument #1 to 'gmatch' (string expected, got nil) -> stack traceback: ?: in function <?:73> [C]: in function 'gmatch' ?: in function 'split' ?: in function <?:137> (tail call): ? ?: in function <?:324> [C]: in function 'xpcall' ?: in function 'try' ?: in function <?:290> [C]: in function 'run' ?: in function <?:345> [C]: in function 'xpcall' ?: in function 'try' ?: in function <?:261> (tail call): ? /dumaos/api/cli.lua:48: in function </dumaos/api/cli.lua:30> [C]: in function 'xpcall' /dumaos/api/cli.lua:59: in main chunk [C]: ?
