Prioritisation for Devices that Don't Access the Net?

Does the XR500 "only" work QOS when there is access to the Internet? I haven't experimented with this yet, but I am wondering how I would control say a NAS on the network that is not accessing the internet but placing a heavy load on the network. The XR500 doesn't seem to have any facilities to do this? Or perhaps I am misunderstanding something and it does! Do I need a managed switch for example?

It only works on an internet basis as far as I am aware but you may be able to allocate bandwidth to it so it doesn't go past your allocation. Experiment and let us know but as you say probably your best bet is a managed switch.

Thank you for your reply. Yes I have decided that since switches are so cheap I will just get one to isolate what you might call the crosstalk between devices that are not used for gaming. I alreay have one swith on the XR500 becuase the XR500 doesn't have enough ports so I will simply replace it with another one that has more and re-wire everything a bit! 😄

Sounds like a good plan!
