RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Hey all
This XR1000 has been a nightmare. Long story short. My router is literally factory resetting at random times. If my power goes out it hard rests and deletes EVERYTHING. Also if I unplug it or reboot it factory resets as well. I have to start from scratch name the WiFi and connect all my devices again. Is this a known problem? Any solutions ? Is there a way to back everything up and just upload it back to make things easier for now ? This has been a nightmare!

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Make your settings changes then reboot from the interface, this should act as a hard save so if its unplugged at a later date or loses power etc settings should be saved

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
1. Change the router settings how you want them set.
2. Reboot from the interface - this will act as a hard save
2. Reboot from the interface - this will act as a hard save

How will I know if the reboot hard saved the WiFi settings and devices and everything? Any way to tell?

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Only way to tell would be to unplug it then plug it back in but I'd wait a little at least before trying it

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Is there a way to backup everything just in case it doesn’t work and I have to redo everything again ?

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
There is a backup/restore function but I don't think it covers everything but could save you some time. It's in Settings > Administration

Is there a way to backup everything just in case it doesn’t work and I have to redo everything again ? Also the duma OS app used to work with my XR500. It’s unable to connect with my XR1000. Any fix for this ?

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Ok and last question I promise lol. How do I go about updating the firmware. Can you link me to the xr1000 firmware link. I try to do it through duma but it never finds the new firmware for me. Thanks so much for your help !

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Wait a second. Is it normal after rebooting to go back to the setup page ? I thought it deleted everything because it kicked me back to the agreement page and setup but when I went through it had my WiFi name and password saved along with my devices connected. Should I be good now ?

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Now it’s giving me a haserl CGI error when I try and log onto duma. This router is an absolute nightmare I wish I can go back to my xr500 honestly. This is terrible. What do I do to get back onto Duma OS?

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
It shouldn't take you back to the setup no but it doesn't sound like it did a full reset. Access 192.168.1.1/adv_index.htm and re-upgrade to the firmware from there and see if it is more stable then. Otherwise you may have to try upgrading using the TFTP method which bypasses the boot process and any issues there. Netgear have a few guides on how it do this in their knowledgebase.

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Can you link me to the upgrade instructions for that tftp please. Been trouble shooting since 1 pm this is so not fair for a 300$ router. And what’s the gaming helpline ? I need a replacement for this router it’s only 4 months old. I have a case number been on the phone holding for and hour with no answer

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
There are a few options here: https://www.netgear.com/search/?=&referrerPageUrl=&query=tftp
I don't work for Netgear, they're a separate company to use so I couldn't say but I doubt they have a dedicated gaming support line. Try creating a ticket with them instead

Re: RANDOM FACTORY RESETS!
Absolutely nothing has worked. I troubleshooted with netgear the last two days and this router keeps factory resetting no matter what we try unfortunately.
