Updated the firmware on what Netgear device? And from what firmware version to what version?

And where do you see the message buried in your subject?

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

I believe I was on 5084 and I updated to the most recent on the xr1000. I've been having issues for over a year now and I thought updating would help, now DumaOS doesn't even load and after 5 minutes of a red screen with a spinning white circle that error message pops up.

That's not a Netgear firmware number. Maybe it is a Duma thing.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

I will ask the Netgear moderator to move your message.

That's why it always helps to provide as much detail as possible when seeking help.

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

Did you factory reset after upgrading as that is recommended and should clear the error

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

No I did not I will have to try that after work. I'll only be able to do that with the button on the router because that error causes me to be unable to login to the router but the internet still works

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

You can do so from the interface by going to routerlogin.net/adv_index.htm which just loads the settings pages without DumaOS, let us know how you get on!

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

I have the netgear ax6000 modem upstairs connected to the router. When I do the router login it logs me into the modem not the router.

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

You can use the router IP address instead so 192.168.1.1 or 10.0.0.1 etc then just add /adv_index.htm on the end and it will work

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

192.168.0.1 takes me to the modem 10.0.0.1 takes me to Duma

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

So 10.0.0.1/adv_index.htm will take you to the settings

That's not a Netgear model number.

The only ax6000 "modem" is the CAX80 modem/router.

That is probably because you are running two routers on your network.

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

This explains some of the other drawbacks.

What is Double NAT? | Answer | NETGEAR Support

Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.

If the router is a gaming router, you don't say, then using that as an AP may wipe out its gaming features. You might do better to put the CAX80  into modem only (bridge) mode.

Okay where do I go to do a factory reset? I'm not seeing that option.

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

This is set up this way for a reason. Upstairs has its own log in, kept separate for a reason, while the downstairs is mine alone.

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

Manuals are always a good place to start.

Visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.

Check the section in the manual Return the Router to its Factory Default
Settings. Or press the "button" on the back.

If you are running two routers on the same network, be prepared for problems. See above.

You will have to explain that.

What are you doing?

What happens?

What error messages? And when?

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

I'm having the same issue XR1000 gaming router, I updated from .58 to .64 or whatever the newest version is.

Btw, factory resetting a router every time you update the firmware is completely ridiculous and unacceptable.  That's the equivalent of asking a Windows 10 user to reset their PC every month after patch Tuesday.   Was a huge mistake to buy this router in the first place, it's complete garbage.  In the 18 months that I've owned it, this will be the 4th or 5th time I've had to factory reset it.

To make matters worse, the "backup" feature is completely broken.  No matter what changes you make, and when you restore from a backup, it is still the default settings.  Again, this thing is complete garbage, shame on you Netgear.

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

@PaulthePirate If you're interested here is a good explanation of why factory resetting is recommended and why you shouldn't restore a backup: https://www.snbforums.com/threads/faq-nvram-and-factory-default-reset.22822/

How did you reset from the interface or hardware button? What device/web browser are you using to access?

Re: Uncaught TypeError: $(...)[0].getApp is not a function

Honestly I agree, it's great when it works but only when. It wouldn't update when I searched through the router itself and I had to manually do it. The router has constant issues with the 5ghz too
