XR1000 Bufferbloat until I cut network connection breifly
I have been having an issue with my Router for a while now. Been trying so many different things to get it back to where it was.
So for testing I have Ping Plotter pinging a Dota 2 server near me. It is a solid 16ms, maybe jumps up to 20 in infrequent spikes here and there.
My Connection speed is 1000/50.
Now, I am able to saturate my connection with a Speed test on my phone or Server PC and because of doing some CC, I don't get spikes (except some initial spikes on upload). But that doesn't bother me.
However, after some time of idle. If I try and saturate the line again. I won't get any stable ping. It will now bounce between 20-100 and everything inbetween till the line isn't saturated anymore. I have noted, that while this is happening, CPU0 is maxed out completely as well.
Nothing will allow this to go back to how it was until I briefly disconnect the internet. I do this generally by changing my DNS server to something else. EG 1.1.1.1, then to 1.1.1.2.
Now I can saturate the line however much I want just the same as before but with not even a spike.
In real world tests, this is an issue when I am using the PC for gaming and my wife is watching a show on infuse / plex. Normally the show can completely buffer while I play without even 1 ms of ping increase. But when it is doing this high cpu0 stuff, it will jump around until I do my fix.
It is so infrequent, that I can't plan around it, nor setup some automated response to it.
THINGS I HAVE TRIED:
I just did a factory reset last night. Thought it might have worked, but this morning I did a quick test and alas it is back to what it was.
I have played extensively with CC options and Traffic Prioritization in QoS. These don't help at all while the issue is happening. If anything it seems to make it worse.

Are ALL devices connected to the XR? Could you grab the log when it happens please?

Re: XR1000 Bufferbloat until I cut network connection breifly
Hi!
This is a Netgear XR1000v1.
Latest firmware - 1.0.0.72_1.0.62.
Logs in System Information:
Logs in Monitoring:
Nearly all devices are connected directly to the XR. With exception of an AP for wireless because to behonest, this router was nothing but drop outs on wifi, so I got a seperate one. Also my Security camera's are connected via a POE Switch that is then connected to the router.
So for some context, I am streaming a video from my server PC (over the net, to then my phone, or PC, doesn't matter what device it serves. Most of the time it works without hiccups. But sometimes out of no where, the router CPU0 is stuck at 100% and latency all over the network is ramped up.
During this time, I do a speed test from my main PC and get near my max speed 900mbps. However, from the linux server I am getting max 80-100mbps.
I go to Settings --> Internet Setup and I don't have to change anything, I just press apply. It will briefly disconnect as it applies the settings again. But now I can stream from my server to my phone, and Ping Plotter barely spikes above 5ms the normal rate.
And now if I do a speedtest on the server it runs at 850-900mbps.
This will last anywhere between a day to 5 minutes. Then I'll have to do it again.
Usually it is really hard to navigate the settings cause of the CPU0 being pegged at 100%.

Re: XR1000 Bufferbloat until I cut network connection breifly
It is worth mentioning, that I have tried many different configurations with CC and Traffic prioritization.
It never makes a difference, in fact, while the issue is happening, it is worse to have CC enabled.
Currently it is turned off.

Re: XR1000 Bufferbloat until I cut network connection breifly
So I have gotten my static IP swapped. I am now not getting swamped by China IP's 60 requests a minute.
I will monitor this a little more before marking as solved. But so far the router isn't throttling the connection to my server randomly yet. So fingers crossed.

Re: XR1000 Bufferbloat until I cut network connection breifly
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd No.
It has not solved it at all.
It is as if QoS just turns on and hard limits my server to 100mbps until I disrupt the service briefly.
I fully disabled QoS. But yet this shows up in the logs?
Using disabled(NOP) QoS subclass
