XR1000 VPN

I was wondering if it is possible to set up Open VPN (OctoVPN provider) on my router. i want to provide a VPN IP address to my gaming console instead of using my mac/windows to host Open VPN.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your XR1000 device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

I will move your message to the appropriate section.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Re: XR1000 VPN

You can't do this just yet on the XR1000, in future it will receive an update with the Hybrid VPN feature which will allow you to do this. I don't have an ETA for that update as yet but we are working on the XR1000 currently so it shouldn't be too long.

No update as yet I'm afraid, I don't think it'll be in the next firmware but it should be in the following one. We update this article weekly with firmware progress so you can track that.

Any further update yet? Or an eta based on your prior experience/knowledge?

I don't have any more information to provide unfortunately than what is shown on the above page. It's over to Netgear at the moment.
