Well, it's really hard to tell, I've been down there to ask for ANY possibilities of getting rid of this specific chipset. We'll see how that goes.
As a closing note before I get an update again, this router should most definitely have an effect on bufferbloat one way or another, right?
I've been through every position with the congestion slider through 100% to 0%, neither of them provided anything below 10-20, sometimes 7% would give +10 download latency and another result with the same setting would be a +20.
With that being said it's safe to assume that something is wrong that the XR1000 can't control, right?

Yes absolutely it should be able to limit the variance in your ping when the connection is being used/saturated quite significantly.
