XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

Hi, I have a XR450 which crashes when I try to upload large quantity of files and/or a large file to OneDrive. This is consistent behaviour and I had to move to another room's access point which is a router of another make for my uploads to work. I was backing up about 275Gb in total and this never worked on the XR450. The router is on the latest firmware. Anyone faced this and managed to find a solution?

How longs has it been going on?

Did you try a factory reset and reinstall (without using a backup)?

When you say crashed, does it cause it to reboot?

Are you uploading over wireless or over a wired connection?

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

Hello, I have this problem for the past week or so, since I been trying to move my content from one laptop to another via one drive (only option for me since it is a work laptop). I got it sorted out by using a different router in my living room but still want to try to get to a stable version of FW for this XR450. I did not reset my router and have not tinkered with any of its settings or throttling etc other than putting it into AP mode.

When I say crashed, it takes out the router functionality completely, no device can connect to the SSID and a wired NVR connected to it also becomes inaccessible. I have to power cycle it for it to work again. the router homepage also becomes inaccessible.

Uploading is over wireless.

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

I've seen large uploads over 5ghz cause issues on other routers but not on the XR series. Curious.

Glad you got it taken care of but still a curiosity. If you run into again, I'd try re-installing the firmware to the router and doing a factory set.

Does same thing happen if you upload over a wired/ethernet connection?

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

I did not try the wired connection as it is a bit of a bother due to the height of the router in my room. Have kept it away from my cats.

Something to try when you can. They make varied lengths of CAT6 cabling. 😉

🙂 I do have those lengths and will give it a shot, but this shouldn't be happening!

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

How is the wireless settings on the XR router configured? Under Basic and Advanced menu please.

What is the brand and model of the wireless adapter in the PC your uploading with?

Is Armor or Traffic Meter enabled on the router or have they ever been enabled?

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

With it in AP mode there really isn't much you can change to potentially work around the issue. Are you using Smart Connect? Are both devices connected to the XR?

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

Never used Smart Connect.
Both devices were connected to the XR but only the Upload was on whole the download i had not activated on the second laptop.
The source laptop was a Lenovo and been using it for five years. My newer laptop is a MacBook Pro. Both upload and download were failing on the XR for large files and large quantity of files.

Re: XR450 - Upload causes firmware to crash

Connect them via different methods so one via 2.4 then other via 5GHz or one via ethernet and see if the same happens
