XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
Just bought an XR450 from Costcon on sale and relized it is not giving my full speeds on the 2.4GHZ band. I should be getting 100 down but instead i'm getting 80 down on this new router. My old Asus 87u router I bought 4 years ago would reach these speeds very easily on 2.4 GHZ band. None of the QOS is set up or anything on the XR450. Any suggestions why this is happening?

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
Usually 2.4GHz maxes out around this level. Is your device able to connect to the 5GHz?
You could try changing the channel in >Settings >Wireless to see if that improves it

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
The device does have 5 GHZ support. I was just surprised how this brand new router can't deliever the same speeds as my old 4 year old router.

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
How is the router configured on 2.4Ghz?
What channels are you using? Auto or manual?
What security modes are you using?
Smart Connect enabled or disabled?
20/40Mhz Coexistance disabled?
FYI, I can also confirm that I'm only getting 100Mb down on my iphone 6sP on 2.4Ghz on a 200/10 ISP service. I get 230/10 speeds on 5Ghz and with SC enabled which of course the phone connects to the 5Ghz radio when SC is enabled.
Also tested manual channel and wifi security disabled as well. Still maxing out at 100Mb.
Using WiFi Sweetspot app on my phone, it's seeing about 200-250Mb connection speed rates between the phone and 2.4Ghz radio. I'm getting 900-1000mb + on 5Ghz radio.
Router bought 3 days ago and still using shipping FW. I have not updated FW as of yet. I'm wanting to test the router as shipped before doing any FW updates.
Specs:
XR500
AC2600 (800Mbps @2.4GHz—256QAM
support +1733Mbps @5Ghz 11ac)
XR450
• AC2400 (600Mbps@2.4GHz-64QAM
support+1733Mbps@5GHz 11ac)
If these are supposed to be connection rates between a device and the router, I'm not seeing it on the 450...
I'll try a different wifi device with the router and post results.

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
Ok, with a Windows 7x64 PC connected to a D-Link DWA-192 USB 3.0 wireless adatper.
Windows showed the connection rate to be 450Mb between the adatper and 2.4Ghz radio:
I'm getting over 100Mb on the down: http://www.speedtest.net/result/7544572747
Definately closer to 200Mb for my ISP spec.
Connecting at 5Ghz, I'm seeing 1.3Gb connection rate between the adapter and 5Ghz radio: http://www.speedtest.net/result/7544587076
Seems that maybe there could be a problem with iPhones and the 2.4Ghz radio on the 450...

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
Using a Mac Mini, it's wifi reports connecting at 195-220Mb on 2.4Ghz and 450Mb on 5ghz which I believe thats the Minis max connection rates.

Possible APPLE wifi issue with 2.4Ghz and the 450...

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
What channels are you using? Auto or manual?
Manually set it to channel 6 (I have tried others too)
What security modes are you using?
WPA2-PSK [AES]
Smart Connect enabled or disabled?
Smart connect off
20/40Mhz Coexistance disabled?
I tried doing both with no luck in increasing speeds

I am not using an Apple prodcut to test the speeds.

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
Seems like some devices aren't working well on 2.4Ghz while one does. I'll see if I can find my 2.4ghz only wireless adatper and do some testing with it.
Would be nice to get some NG engineering eyes on this...

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
I am legit disappointed that this brand new router can't give me anywhere close to what my old router was giving me. I'm questioning if the software functions are even worth keeping the router.

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
So far this is only on 2.4ghz. It is disappointing. I ask a friend who has a XR500 and he reports seeing the same thing with 2.4Ghz. 5Ghz is fine. I'm suprised no body else has caught this sooner.
I recommend you contact NG support and start a ticket. Reference this forum thread as well. Hoping someone will comment or give feedback from NG.

Wanted to try a older 2.4Ghz 450Mb N only wireless adapter. TrendNet TEW-687GA.

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
The crazy thing is it doesn't even let me contact support when I enter my serial number on the website. It is just a blank field and doesn't let me click anything.

I would either make contact with one of the forum moderators or phone contact NG support. I presume one of the forum moderators would be preferred...

Re: XR450 not giving full speeds on 2.4GHZ band
My product serial number shows up, however when I click on one of the red X's, it brings up a window with warranty information, however the information is missing in the window so I don't know what the details are.
