Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Haha Thats my bad. I wasn't aware it was moderated by the same people until I had already raised the issues. I think we are in discussion about this over 3 forums now LOL

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

No problem. Sometimes I don't realize i'm talking to the same person over email, chat and forums and then i'm thinking "wow this problem has happened to like 3 people at once, how weird"

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Well I thought I give the latest firmware (*.50) a shot and within 8 hours the same issue occurred and all connections were dropped. Can someone look into this as I’d like to stay up to date on a $300 router that now seems way overpriced?

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

What is the Mfr and model# of the ISP modem the NG router is connected too?

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last update?

Try v32 version of FW?

I'd contact support and file a support ticket. Ask about a RMA:

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Firmware version 2.3.2.40 and 2.3.2.32 were tried and yielded the same results. Only 2.3.2.22 and earlier work. I have fiber internet and the ONT is Adtran 401 micro(the one without voice). Factory resets have been applied with various FW versions to no avail.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Is this your ONT?

https://portal.adtran.com/web/page/portal/Adtran/product/1287786G1

I see it's been discontinued and replaced with a new model. Maybe soemthing to try though not sure if this would effect what your seeing. Anthing is possible.

I would try NG support and ask for help on this. I would send them your debug logs for review. Maybe they can find where the problem is happening in later version of FW. Make not of earlier version is working. Ask about an RMA to see if a new router does the same thing or not.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

How many devices do you have? Would it be practical to give all the devices added to the router a reserved IP and then disable DHCP completel to see if it helps. Furry suggestion is a good idea as well.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

I have more than 15 devices. Assigning a static IP to each would likely solve the symptom but not the problem and for a $300 router I shouldn’t have to work around an issue such as DHCP that is been solved for decades.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

I can totally appreciate that, it's not ideal at all. It is clearly something that we need to look into and fix but I couldn't reliably say when that might be so I'm trying to look for workarounds that will help in the meantime.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

I'm having the same issue, when the PS4 is downloading in rest mode, the downloads pause at the same time there is a DHCP lease change. I've already ordered a new router from Asus as I have got zero help with this issue on the Netduma forums and on here(although I only posted here 12 hours ago).

On firmware V2.3.2.56.

What's the deal? Is it dodgy fw if so what should I have been using and where do I find it.

Not going in depth on all my troubleshooting as I have done so in my own post here and on duma forums, but rest assured I have narrowed it down to this router as the culprit.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Replying doesn't equate to helping. You have offered zero help in fixing the issue. Thanks for absolutely nothing but complete, and utter incompetence. You and the so called Netgear support, which is also distinctly lacking.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

I posted in the topics a few hours ago asking you a question that could be a workaround based on a previous issue that it has similarities to.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

2.3.2.22 is the only firmware that works for me. So much for staying relevant with security and functionality. Best solution is to return it if possible and buy an Asus. Hopefully they’ll treat us better.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

@Oasis81 is it only your PC disconnecting from the internet? Are all other devices fine? If so I would look at first updating the network drivers on the PC.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

What web browser are you using? In System Information in the R-App panel options change the number of retries to 5 then reboot. Are you using Smart Connect for WiFi? If so disable that and connect to 2.4/5GHz manually, does that resolve it?

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Just tried the latest firmware. Same issue with DHCP causing all devices to go offline after 8 hours. Can someone help me out with looking at the logs or trying to get a real fix? The issue is not present with .22 but every FW after. I’d really like not to shell out another $300 for a comparable router, especially another brand.

Re: XR500 DHCP issue

Could you give static/reserved IPs to the affected devices in LAN Settings and see if they continue to disconnect please?
