Re: XR500 - VLAN tagging making wifi devices unable to communicate?

Wow, that was quick!

Thank you.

So I'm going to buy another router then ...

Any suggestions?

OP mentioned he got an Asus RT-AC88U ... looks ok from what I can tell.

Re: XR500 - VLAN tagging making wifi devices unable to communicate?

Our office shut down due to COVID so I never sourced a replacement router. But I haven't come across this problem on other routers, so hopefully you'll be fine with whatever you get.

Try it yourself but if it isn't working then let us know on the beta forum so the devs can look into it further.

Re: XR500 - VLAN tagging making wifi devices unable to communicate?

Pretty sure it was tested above with no avail. Would be great if you guys could fix the VLAN and also add more options to add more DHCP serves for the VLAN's as well. Would make the router perfect for me and wouldn't have to swap it for something else.

Everyones connection is different so give it a go if you haven't, reset after the update to prevent legacy issues carrying over.

Re: XR500 - VLAN tagging making wifi devices unable to communicate?

Re: XR500 - VLAN tagging making wifi devices unable to communicate?

I know this is 4  years later, but the fix for me was the following

Under Vlan/Bridge Settings which is under advanced.

Go to By VLAN tag group and create a new group called "LAN" in the vlan ID box call it vlan 1 and select up to 3 Wired and 2 wireless (keeping one Wired port free)

After doing this click apply

Next and this is the most important step under where you see this new group. Make sure where it says "Enable" , Untick it!

For some reason what this does it keeps your one wired and one WAN as the one single vlan ID you require for internet.

And then it sets the rest of your wireless and wired as vlan 0, making communication work again across the different ways of communication (wired, wireless, 2.4/5ghz)

I'm also on the beta version XR500 V2.3.2.134-dumaos33-rc14
