XR500 and cm1000

Hey all I just bought the xr500  its pretty cool so far ,But i am having a slight hicup . If i restart my cm1000 the light on the xr500 goes amber even when the modem gets full back up it stays amber . I am wondering if maybe I got a bad xr500 or if its a glitch When i got the webpage for the modem It will not detect  my modem till I unplug the router and power it back up.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

The router is fine i have discovered the modem cm1000 is failing. I went to setup my nighthawk x6 back up. The x6 would not detect the modem no matter what i tried unplugging it power cycling the modem then the x6 I guess thats why i could not access 192.168.100.1 for the modem through the pro gaming router, I think the lan port on the cm1000 might have a short in it or some kinda random glitch since the lights all light up that lan is connected , on the modem and both routers.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

Some more info I have updated the router to the current firmware. I first noticed it when it did the setup I had problems with the router decting my modem under internet ip address. All the fields were 0 on the off chance of getting a bad cable with the new modem I just switched it out. I am still having probelms when restarting modem the internet never comes back up even after waiting for 15 minutes.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

That maybe down to the router not recognising that your dynamic ip address has changed. Your dynamic ip address changes if your modem roboots itself or manually. I had this happen with my asus router also so I don't think it is a bug or faulty router as once you reboot the router it finds your new ip address and works ok!

You shouldn't be rebooting your modem as that should be left switched on all the time.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

Been messing around With both of them for a little bit. The weird thing is when I send a reset signal to the modem cm1000 it will be fully powered up when I try to go to 192.168.100.1 it won’t load the status page. While the light is amber no amount of time will let be accessible . Only way to access it is power cycling the router then everything is fine kinda weird to me. You

Re: XR500 and cm1000

In general if you're rebooting the modem/hub you should also reboot the router connected to it. This is present in all setup manuals basically. I wouldn't have rebooting your modem as mentioned above unless you have a serious issue.

Even though it can seem like a modem/router is fully powered up it can take a few minutes after reboot before you can access properly. I don't see any issues here just normal operation.

Re: XR500 and cm1000 update

Its no big deal but I went to check to see if there is a new update. My router keeps saying

Current GUI Language Version: V1.0.0.325
New GUI Language Version: V1.0.0.327

I have tried to apply the update but nothing happens.

it says please wait while updating

The screen will flicker and the dashboard loads back up.

I don't have the CM1000 and I have issues getting the XR500 to update the GUI to the latest.

Re: XR500 and cm1000 update

Hi Danny, what are your speeds? If you're utilising Anti-Bufferbloat by having the download/upload sliders lowered (we usually recommend a starting point of 70%) and having it set to apply 'Always' that should definitely not occur. Can you try that if you haven't and let us know if that resolves the issue please.

I can't recall where I read this but I believe all three of those WiFi options shouldn't be enabled at the same time, I'd suggest disabling HT160 and see if that also helps to resolve the issue.

Re: XR500 and cm1000 update

my speeds are 296 up and 13 down . I  have turned off ht160 to see if that helps. I have sliders at  70% with them set at 280 since 296 is not constant. I will let you know if it happens again , Its happened twice now randomly

Re: XR500 and cm1000

I also have a cm1000 and xr500 with Firmware version V2.2.1.10 and can not update from GUI language version V1.0.0.325 to V1.0.0.327 it acts like its updating and then when I check its still V1.0.0.325. I have tried several browsers and clearing cookies etc

Re: XR500 and cm1000

Change language to a different one then back to English, that will fix it.

Development team are aware and working on a fix.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

I was wondering since you have a cm1000 did you have any handshake issues with the modem and router ?

Re: XR500 and cm1000

Nope I have not had any issue with handshake. In fact the set up and overall connection have been excellent so far. I just got the XR500 last weekend and I went ahead did the automatic setup detected and it connected quickly. Firmware updated just like it was supposed to on first connection which I was glad to see! Then I went in tweaked everything and I have had no connection drops or other issues so far. The only thing I did notice was that all the ports report as stealth except port 22 for remote which reports closed which I know is not a security risk but would be nice if it was stealth.

Re: XR500 and cm1000

I had to keep rebooting my modem and router for it to detect my cm1000.

The port will be fixed in a future update.

Are you still having the issue Danny?
