Re: XR500 dead due to reboot
You can try recovering it with tftp or nmrpflash.
are you on windows? if so, follow this guide
https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP
just make sure you enable tftp
https://www.thewindowsclub.com/enable-tftp-windows-10
and here's a video walk through using a tftp client. Use the built in one for windows 10 though. the video is more of an example of how its done.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9DLrLQrpaw
and if that doesn't work, you can try using nmrpflash

@Netduma-Fraser @plemans after holding reset for 30 sec and releasing it the solid red light goes off completely, I have to push on off button to get solid red light glowing again ,

Re: XR500 dead due to reboot
When you reboot the router does the power button start flashing orange? That may be why the TFTP isn't working.

Re: XR500 dead due to reboot
With the router plugged in and powered on, press the reset button for 30 seconds. While still holding down the button, unplug the router from power for 30 seconds. With the reset button still held down, plug in the power back hold for another 30 seconds. Then lot go, wait 2 minutes and see if it works.

Re: XR500 dead due to reboot
If that doesn't work, try the nmrpflash I linked to earlier. It sometimes works when tftp doesn't.

Re: XR500 dead due to reboot
If you've tried everything and can't recover the router, the router is probably bad and needs replaceing. You'll need to contact NG support and see what your options are: https://my.netgear.com/support/contact.aspx
