XR700 Router stopped broadcasting SSID/no wifi
Yesterday afternoon, my wifi stopped working. What I mean is I could no longer find the SSID, on any device, and cannot connect. When I log into the admin page, on the home page it shows the wireless ...

I was looking at the ax6000 asus. But I just went back to cox equipment because it never let me down honestly. Never had issues with ISP equipment.

GhillieK9 I would recommend re-upgrading to the latest firmware using the TFTP method as that will bypass the boot process and any issues that may be there. Would then suggest a factory reset. This will give you the freshest install possible.

- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeI will try this method and report later. FYI I have tried several other firmware....the.20.10 and.08 that hot flash one that someone suggested. But those were the regular method so I'll try this. Thank you

Well, sadly it did not work. The flash was successful but my WiFi will still not turn on. Ethernet connections work. Even the 2.4 / 5 ghz lights will not turn on. In the advanced wireless setting, I can turn on the 60ghz ones and it'll light up....the 2.4/5 are checked on but the light won't work and there are no connections. It is as if the hardware for the 2.4/5 malfunctioned or something.
- Netduma-FraserAug 20, 2020NetDuma PartnerIn the Advanced WiFi options disable the radios, apply then reboot. Then go back, enable, apply and reboot again. See if that helps bring them back to life.
- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeLet me try that....I never did.the reboot when I toggled them before...good idea

One thing I forgot to mention.... when I try to log into the router via 192.168.1.1, after the log in, I get "DumaOS not loaded yet" message...only way I can log in is via "
http://192.168.1.1/adv_index.htm
which is what I found here somewhere....not sure if that helps identifying the issue....

No luck, sadly
- Netduma-FraserAug 20, 2020NetDuma PartnerI'd recommend making a ticket here with Netgear and see if they have any other suggestions: http://support.netgear.com/
- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeThank you....I'm just outside of my one year warranty so given up hope. I will just use it for my PS4 and a few other things I can hook up the ethernet ports to...and then use some older one for wifi devices. Bummer....worked like a champ when it did
- Netduma-FraserAug 20, 2020NetDuma PartnerI really don't know why that has happened and certainly doesn't sound like a software issue. One thought actually, if you put it in AP mode does the WiFi work?
- Mikeclev7Aug 20, 2020AspirantI did that, and even got on the phone with them. Net gear was completely useless trying to troubleshoot, and even though I was within warranty it was a hassle to try and attempt to open a order to send it to them. Never buying Netgear again. Honestly.
- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeI can try that as soon as I get home....looks like it was already tried....but I still can. I guess maybe try ASUS next

- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeThank you for tagging them...didn't even think of that...I called the CS number after creating some kind of ticket (I have the ticket number) but it told me I'm outside of some 90 day period and couldn't really get much further. Thanks again for all your suggestions. I just got home and I'll try the AP mode
- GhillieK9Aug 20, 2020ApprenticeAP didn't work either

Hello NPG Community!
GhillieK9 , Mikeclev7 and SonzofGod - We'd love to get this issue in front of engineering! Can you please share your case numbers with me via private message?
In the meantime, can you also follow the steps below to collect router logs:
1. Type http://192.168.0.1/debug.htm into a web browser while being connected to the Nighthawk Pro Gamin router.
2. When prompted, enter your router admin login credentials.
3. Once logged in, click on Start Capture and wait for about 5 minutes.
4. When those 5 minutes have passed, click on Save Debug Log and download the archive locally on your PC.
Note: Please save the log files in a place that is easily accessible so you can attach them to an email.
I look forward to hearing from each of you!
Kind Regards,
Christine
- GhillieK9Aug 25, 2020ApprenticeThank you so much!! I've sent you a message

Wow...so you guys won't believe this...I just found some time to do what Christine instructed me to do...since that last time we chatted, I put the XR700 in the box....busted out a different router I had as backup.....
I plug ithe 700 in....bam!!! 2.4 and 5ghz works! What I noticed is that the antenas also lit up...you know how they have the red LEDs around them....I just realized that when WiFI was not working, those LEDs didn't work.
Anyway, Christine, I plan on still sending you those logs...just have to follow your steps now. I hope it stays working but is there still a way to have it looked at and "fixed"? or do I need to wait until it malfunctions again?
Hope this helps others.
Andy
- Netduma-FraserSep 01, 2020NetDuma PartnerThe logs will only really help when the issue is present so you may need to wait to see if it happens again. It may be that the memory was full and by unplugging it for a period of time it cleared this and allowed it to work again on bootup.
