XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

Hi,

Has anyone done some speedtest between Lan and Wan?

I've been testing the speed between lan ports and wan ports and the most I get is 537 Mbits/sec.

I was expecting atleast 900 Mbits/sec between wan (atleast through the 10Gb port) and lan.

Where is the 4600 Mbits/sec advertised on the box coming from?

Please let me know!

How have you been running the tests exactly?

Using a gigabit switch,2 wired pcs, XR700 and IPERF3.

That said that are many otherways to test speed between router and switch ports.

How are you testing it?

We actually primarily use iPerf 2 as have found issues using iPerf 3. If you test using iPerf 2 do you get the same results as 3? Are you using multiple streams to test?

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

See attached image.. did same test on other brand similar gigabit routers and they are over 900 Mbps.

I tried the test with all different settings in Netduma turning features off or on with no luck. What should the throughput speed be and how do you test it?

Let me know.

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

using IPERF3 running multiple threads I do get 998 Mbps.

Thank you

Glad to hear it, just a case of settings then!

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

This was an setting issue when testing to see the sum speed using 2 streams atleast.

But when I am downloading there is normally only 1 stream so the way this router is setup it cuts my gig speed in half.

I tried downloading one file and download speed is 490 Mbps or less.

So testing a 2.3 GB file takes 60 seconds or more.

If I repeat the test using 2 computers downloading each an 2.3GB file at the same time I would expect to see my other 490Mbps  but that is not what happens instead the time it takes for those 2 files takes twice the time so 2 minutes.

So really the 1 Gbps speed is not available.

Since this is purely within the router I hope this get fixed in the next update.

FYI I also tested the same scenario through a gig switch and the sum speed downloading and testing was consistent at 980 Mbps.

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

Could you test the downloads with disabling QoS completely from Anti-Bufferbloats' option menu please and see if that helps at all?

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

The the Anti-Bufferbloat was set to NEVER.

I changed to "When High Priority Traffic Detected" then to "Always" using thesesettings the speeds are even slower.
Simultaneos downloads

PC 1=>  download speed 25 MBps (200 Mbps)

PC 2=> download speed 20MBps (160 Mbps)

#################################################################

I now set the Anti-Bufferbloat to never but  results are the same basically the same.

Simultaneos downloads

PC 1=>  downloading at 50 MBps (400 Mbps)

PC 2=> downloading at 40MBps (320 Mbps)

#################################################################

Only PC 1 connected =>  downloading at 55 MBps (440 Mbps)

#################################################################

Hope this helps.

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

Never won't necessarily do it, on the Anti-Bufferbloat panel there is a three line icon to the top left of that specific panel. Click on that and disable QoS entirely and then try again.

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

So  "All QoS features are disabled"

And the downloading went from 50 MBps to 60 MBps (still not where it needs to be what is close to 128 MBps).

Have you tried testing the download speed?

Let me know when you figure it out.

Have you double checked from that same download source that you achieve higher download speeds directly connected to your modem?

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

In the Setup Wizard of the router, does the speed test result give you back full speeds or lower?

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

Can you forward me your config file where you get full 1 Gb download speed.

Re: XR700 Speedtest between Lan and Wan ports

I could never get anything near 900Mbps on the XR700 when I had it...
