Re: Xr500 login help

You don't open the file after download.

After you download it, you extract it. then you follow the manual update process.

Re: Xr500 login help

You upload that to the router.

Re: Xr500 login help

  1. Log into your XR500 using the admin username and password.
  2. Click Settings > Administration > Firmware Upgrade page.
  3. Click Browser and locate the firmware image file.
  4. Click Upload.

Re: Xr500 login help

You stated you tried it with the default info. when you first setup the device, you're required to change it.

Try what you changed it to.

If that doesn'twork, then try the password recovery option (if you set that up).

If you didn't set that up, then you'd need to factory reset to get back in.

Re: Xr500 login help

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:

Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities

Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.

In the meantime you could visit the support pages:

Support | NETGEAR

Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.

You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.

I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.
